You may feel that when you've previously had a loss or losses that this time all that matters is a healthy baby. And obviously that's what we all wish for, but that doesn't mean you and your birth experience aren't important too.
So how can Hypnobirthing help?
🌟 Become informed. Learn all about how birth works, what your body does in labour, what you can expect from each stage, how you can work with your body during birth and what to do if fear kicks in.
🌟 Planning without pressure. It can sometimes be hard to plan when you've experienced a loss - we don't want to tempt fate or we simply can't imagine that this baby will ever be here - but we can do some all important planning to help us feel prepared but not pressured. Deciding where you'd like to birth your baby, who you'd like with you, what sort of environment you'd like can all help you connect with birth and feel more positive.
🌟 Know your rights. This one is important, especially if you're under consultant led care or considered high risk. Learning what you do and don't have to agree to (spoiler alert, you don't have to do anything you don't want to) can really help you get the birth you want. There will undoubtedly be talks of doctors, of induction, of monitoring but ultimately you are the one who gets to decide how you birth this baby, and Hypnobirthing gives you all the tools you need to do this.
🌟 Feel in control. All these things (and more) add up to one thing - you get to feel in control. Pregnancy after loss can feel so very out of our control but it doesn't have to be. We can plan in small steps, we can focus on one day at a time, and we can also learn to advocate for ourselves and make our own decisions throughout pregnancy and birth. This is your pregnancy, your birth, and your baby - you get to own it!
