Another great post from Meg's Maternity Nursing
Did you know you can learn how to do reflexology on your baby, it's called Baby Reflex and I have shown many new parents Baby Reflex techniques π£ππ£ - techniques for wind, colic, sleep, wellbeing, feeding and digestion - easy to use on your babies feet.
What's not to love π£ππ£
Did you know that holding your babies feet during a feed may help them to feed better... this is a technique I use a lot in my practice and a good tip to remember, especially during fussy phases πΆπ¦Ά
Hereβs why it works π
π§ It gives their body stability....
Gentle pressure helps babies feel grounded and organized, making it easier to coordinate sucking and swallowing.
π€ It calms their nervous system....
Firm, steady touch activates βrest and digest,β helping babies relax and focus on feeding.
β¨ It reduces the startle reflex....
Supporting the feet helps prevent kicking and flailing that can interrupt feeds.
π€± It mimics the womb....
In the womb, babies always had pressure against their feet. That familiar feeling = comfort.
π Result?
A calmer baby, better latch, and longer, more efficient feeds.
π‘Top Tip.... Use gentle, steady pressure with slightly bent knees and never squeeze.
