Depression in the elderly is a real thing,
But there are things that carers, families and friends can do to help.

Getting professional support is always the right thing to do.

Along side that, other things that may help are

* Promoting a sense of purpose
No one likes feeling useless or like a bother!

* Encourage social interaction
Loneliness can have a huge negative impact on an individuals mental health

* Keeping physically active
Something as simple as having a dance to their favourite song or a walk up the garden can have a positive effect

Showing love and care, bringing joy to an individual and being there to share memories and stories all help to improve a loved ones mood.
