Hydrotherapy is hugely beneficial in

many ways for canines such as aiding rehabilitation after surgery or trauma, relieving discomfort for e.g. in an elderly dog suffering from arthritis, reducing obesity, promoting physical wellbeing, increasing fitness and muscle condition, aiding in neurological problems such as nerve damage and spinal issues and maintaining the use and function of joints suffering from orthopaedic conditions. Swimming is a low impact form of exercise which will only benefit a dog suffering from the above conditions as oppose to running/walking on hard ground which can add and worsen the condition. All dog's need fun, exercise, stimulation and love which is what we promote at our centre. We offer doorstep parking and are very easy to find, if using Sat Nav please use our post code which is SN14 7LN. To see our centre please go to albums and all of our facilities are photographed for you.

Say hi to little miss Molly ☀️

We first met Molly when she came to see us for a few swimming lessons to get her comfortable in the water ready for summer.

However, disaster struck and Molly tore her cruciate ligament whilst out walking. The original plan was for Molly to swim with the intention of loosing a little bit of weight and keeping her muscle mass ready for surgery.

Molly surpassed everyone’s expectations and with the buy in of her wonderful owners she came to see us twice a week for a short period. Rather than doing nothing and her muscles wasting away Molly was swimming and building up the muscles around her stifle (knee) that allowed the cruciate ligament to heal on its own.

Fast forward a few months and Molly no longer requires surgery, isn’t limping and is back to her normal self 🥳

Hydrotherapy can work wonders with the buy in of owners and vets to provide appropriate pain relief and guidance!

Meet Bonnie ❤️

Gorgeous Bonnie was rescued from Turkey by her lovely family and has been with them and her brother Bear for a while now.

Bonnie suffers from arthritis and can struggle to move around when it’s flaring up. Bonnie comes to see us every few weeks for her hydrotherapy session where she’s back to being a puppy immediately after she’s out of the pool!

The warm water and plenty of good movement keeps her joints moving and provides some natural pain relief for her making her feel bouncy and younger straight away 🐶

Keep smashing it Bon 🥰

Today we say goodbye to Bryn and his squad as they move further down south for a new adventure 👋🏻

Bryn the staffy is the best boy who loves a tennis ball and would swim all day if you let him! We’ve been treating Bryn over the years for his hind limb weakness ensuring he keeps good muscle mass as he ages gracefully!

Thankyou Charlie for trusting us to treat your boy, we’ve had the best time with him in the pool 🥰 good luck on your new venture and we’re sure we’ll see you all sometime soon! ❤️

We loved having little Juno back in for a visit post her Learn 2 Swim course. Since her time in the pool she’s been off paddle boarding with her mum around the lakes. She’s such a confident little dog and has no qualms about jumping on and off the board.

Go Juno!! 🌊🥳

Congratulations to our newest Learn 2 Swim graduate Fred! 🎓

Baby black lab Fred was an absolute superstar. Although nervous for the first 5 minutes he was off like a rocket after that 🚀. Fred spent the four sessions building up his confidence learning to swim independently and retrieve toys from the water. He was so good we got his dad’s paddle board into the pool to get him used to it before his first trip to the lakes!

We’re so proud of Fred as he’s already off in the river Avon swimming and retrieving his toys. Well done dude you smashed it!! 🥳🥳

Say hello to Toby 👋🏻

Happy boy Tobes has elbow dysplasia and comes to see us on a weekly basis to keep his elbows moving in the correct manner and keep up his overall condition/fitness as he ages.

Elbow dysplasia is very common in labradors and presents itself through lameness/limping on the affected limb(s). It can often appear worse after periods of lying down and resting.

Elbow dysplasia doesn’t have to be the end of the world for dogs though. Regular swimming, controlled exercise and a good anti inflammatory routine for when flare ups occur can all help to keep the symptoms at bay.

Toby proves that elbow dysplasia can’t stop him from being a happy chappy! ❤️

🚨POSTPONED🚨

Due to the current unpredictable warm weather we’ve made the sad decision to postpone our group walk on Sunday. We wouldn’t want to risk any of our dogs health by walking them when it’s too warm/humid to be comfortable for them. We’re disappointed but keep an eye out for a new date when the weather isn’t as hot!

See you all soon,

📣 Calling all customers and your four legged friends 📣

We’re super excited to announce that we will be hosting a group walk on Sunday 22nd June in Monkton Park, Chippenham 🥳

Place: Tenth Hole Cafe, Monkton Park, Chippenham
Date: Sun 22 June
Time: 1000hrs for walking, 1045hrs for coffee!

Its not often we get to see any of you outside of the pool so we thought we’d dust off our normal clothes and go for a gentle walk around the park with a stop off for coffee (and cake 🍰).

If your dog can walk roughly 3K then join us at 1000 hrs at the Tenth Hole cafe in Monkton Park for a gentle stroll around the park. If your dog is still recovering or would struggle to walk the distance bring them down to the cafe at 1045 hrs for a coffee and some socialising!

No need to book just turn up and join us and the resident hydro gang ❤️

A huge congratulations to our newest graduate Kane the Dobermann 🎓

We love a dobie and handsome boy Kane was determined to soak us every week! 😂 Initially Kane was confused and couldn’t work out how to stop splashing but fast forward 4 sessions and he was swimming back to the ramp splash free and comfortable! 🌊

Swimming looks different for every dog - some spaniels and labradors jump right in and love it from the get go where other breeds (like the dobies) may never get to the love it stage. However, we can certainly help to get them comfortable and confident that they can swim if they end up in the water! 💦

We’re so proud of you Kaney, a pleasure to meet you and your pawrents ❤️

Who’s ready for another busy week at SWK9 Hydro Centre…… Billie is ❤️🙋🏼‍♀️
Billie has visited us regularly to maintain her overall fitness and strength going into her golden years.
Billie recently went through a really tough time with a rare illness which left her very weak, having also lost muscle as a secondary factor we increased the frequency of her sessions here and went for a little and often approach.
It’s safe to say she’s back at full strength now and cheekier than ever 🥰 You can now hear Bills way before you see her again, which we love 📢

Getting a new puppy is always so exciting and we’re so pleased that you all allow us to be a tiny part in their socialisation! A big thankyou to Claire for bringing along Rex with his big sister Sophie!

Although Sophie may not acknowledge his existence yet 😂 We had a lovely time watching this gorgeous little boy sniffing around the pool.

We already can’t wait to have him back to swim!
See you soon Rexy 👋🏻
