This week in our All About session, we took a trip to beautiful Jamaica! 🇯🇲

We sampled some rum and coke while learning all about Jamaica’s amazing native animals, including the Doctor Bird, Sea Cows, and Crocodiles. 🐦🐊

We also discovered the inspiring story of the Jamaican Bobsled Team and the film Cool Runnings, alongside chatting about the legendary Usain Bolt and Bob Marley. 🏃‍♂️🎶

Our afternoon ended perfectly as we all jammed along to Three Little Birds! 🎵💛💚🖤

As we mark the 81st anniversary of the end of the Second World War, here at Porthaven Care Homes we would like to pay tribute to those who gave their lives for our freedom as well as those who worked hard to support our nation throughout the conflict.

🌼🌿 Our Garden Challenge is Blooming into Something Bigger! 🌿🌼

This year, our garden challenge is about so much more than planting flowers, it’s about growing experiences, connections, and joy! 🌱

We’re excited to be working alongside Step Change Design and their inspiring “Why Don’t We Go Into The Garden?” research and resources. Together, we’re reimagining how our outdoor spaces can be used to support wellbeing, creativity, and meaningful moments every day. 🌞

Using the Care Culture Map, our team has been working incredibly hard to create more opportunities for everyone to enjoy the fresh air – whether that’s relaxing with a cup of tea, getting hands-on with gardening, or simply soaking up the sunshine. 🌷☕

Today, we celebrated the 81st Anniversary of VE Day in style! ✨

We were treated to a wonderful performance from the Mini Concerts D-Day Dollies, who had everyone singing along to classic wartime favourites and enjoying an afternoon full of music, dancing, and smiles. 🎶💃

Residents also enjoyed a brilliant Union Jack themed cake made by our incredible kitchen team, it looked fantastic and tasted even better! 🎂

We were delighted to be joined by some lovely gentlemen from the Royal British Legion. Thank you so much for spending this special occasion with us.

Another fantastic Yoga Session with Lucy! 🧘‍♀️✨

Our residents are really embracing the benefits, with noticeable improvements in both mobility and mindfulness. It’s been wonderful to see everyone growing in confidence while learning new seated yoga poses together.

And we have to give a special shoutout to John for his impressive “Boat Pose” — what a star! 🚣‍♂️👏

We’re already looking forward to the next session! 💙

🌸 Last week, our residents enjoyed a wonderful trip to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford to explore the beautiful ‘In Bloom’ exhibition! 🌿✨

Running until 16th August, this stunning exhibition takes visitors on a journey through Oxford and across the globe, uncovering the fascinating stories behind Britain’s blooms. With over 100 artworks on display, it truly brought to life how plants have shaped our world 🌍🌺

The visit sparked lots of lovely conversations about gardens, nature, and outdoor spaces, the perfect inspiration as we begin chatting about our upcoming Annual Garden Challenge! 🌼🏡
