Last week was International Write a Card to a Friend Day 💌, so we did just that!

Lilian drew a lovely koala card for a staff member heading off on holiday to Australia 🇦🇺, and Tisha created a beautiful tulip card for her daughter 🌷.

🎉 Meet the Team – Say Hello to Dan! 🎉

We’re absolutely delighted to introduce Dan, our brilliant new Activities & Well-being Assistant here at Penhurst! 💙

Dan has recently returned from an incredible year-long adventure travelling through Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia 🌏✈️ — and before that, he worked as a Social Prescriber supporting Autistic Adults, so he brings a wealth of compassion, creativity and experience with him.

When he’s not busy brightening days at Penhurst, Dan loves running 🏃‍♂️, drawing cartoons ✏️, and helping people live their very best lives.



After just two weeks with the Penhurst Team, Dan says “it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know all the residents, the team and relatives” — and the feeling is very much mutual!

Please join us in giving a huge warm welcome to Dan 👏💫 We’re so lucky to have you on the team!

Last week was International Storytelling Week, and at Penhurst Gardens Care Home we’re proud to say stories are part of everyday life here! 💬📖

We’re lucky to have our very own library, lovingly supported by Chipping Norton Library, which means our shelves are constantly refreshed with new reads. From timeless classics to new favourites, our residents always have plenty of choice to lose themselves in a good book 📚💙

And the story doesn’t end there…
Our library is also open to the local community! If you’re looking for a warm, cosy, and welcoming space to host a book club or reading group, we’d love to hear from you ☕🛋️

Today we had a bloomin’ great time at our All About Amsterdam session! 🌷

We dived into the fascinating history of tulips and the famous “Tulip Mania” of the 1600s, when some tulip bulbs were worth more than a house! 😲🏠
Then came the tasty part… sampling traditional stroopwafels, warmed on top of a cup of hot coffee before enjoying, delicious! ☕🍪

A special shoutout to our brilliant resident Lynda, who brought along her beautiful wooden tulips she bought on her own trip to Amsterdam. What a lovely touch! 🌷💛

On the 1st of February, we had the absolute joy of celebrating a very special milestone, our resident Charlie’s 100th Birthday! 🎉🎂

Charlie was honoured with a wonderful surprise as the Oxfordshire High Sheriff came to personally deliver and present his birthday card from the King 👑💌

A huge thank you to our incredible kitchen team, who created a truly beautiful cake to mark the occasion, the perfect finishing touch to a memorable day. 🍰✨
