Changes to prescription fee exemptions

From 14th April, some of the rules around prescription fee exemptions are changing.
Patients can no longer claim exemption from prescription charges if they are receiving:
• Income Support, or
• Income-based Job seekers allowance
However, if you receive Income related Employment & support allowance, you will still qualify for exemption (please tick box H on your prescription form).
If you are receiving Universal Credit (box U), you may still be eligible for free prescriptions, but this depends on whether you meet the Government’s criteria.
If you are unsure about your eligibility for Universal Credit, at the time of collecting your prescription, you will need to pay the prescription charge. You can then request a refund by asking the dispensary team for an FP57 refund form.
For further information, please visit:

Not everyone getting Universal Credit is entitled to help with their health costs. You are only entitled to claim for help with health costs if your total take-home pay for your household in your last Universal Credit assessment period was below a specific amount.Your household's total take-home pay....

Dear Dispensing Patients,

We would like to sincerely apologise for the delays some of you may experience with your medications following the Easter weekend.
Our dispensing team planned well in advance and put arrangements in place to ensure prescriptions could be processed and ready for collection without disruption. The team has been working extremely hard to provide the service you deserve, particularly over the holiday period.
Unfortunately, a key factor outside of our control has impacted this. Our wholesaler has failed to deliver four scheduled deliveries over the past two days, which has affected the timely supply of medications needed for dispensing.
We have escalated this urgently with the wholesaler. Dr Sandar Hlaing (Executive GP Partner) and Mr Binny Najam (Dispensary Manager) met with the wholesaling team in person this morning to demand an immediate resolution, and we continue to press for this to be resolved as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, our dispensing team will do everything they can to prioritise urgent medications and minimise any inconvenience.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. Please do speak to a member of the dispensary team if you have any urgent needs or require further information.

With our sincere apologies,
Chipping Norton Health Centre Dispensary Team

Meningitis B.

We are aware of recent national reports of Meningitis B.
At the moment, we do not know of any impact on our local area. We are waiting for further official guidance and updates from the government.

It is useful to make yourselves aware of the signs and symptoms of the disease. We have shared a very useful video from Wilmslow Health Centre to our story.

General symptoms of Meningitis B can include:

• Fever
• Severe headache
• Vomiting
• Stiff neck
• Sensitivity to light
• Drowsiness or confusion
• A rash that does not fade when pressed (this may not always appear)

Babies may show different signs, such as poor feeding, irritability, floppiness, cold hands/feet, or difficulty waking.

If you are feeling unwell and are worried about symptoms, please contact the practice or 111. For emergencies please contact 999.

We are not able to administer the Men B vaccination in practice, outside of the Baby Immunisation schedule.

Patients not attending appointments.
We hoped to start 2026 with some better statistics for you but it was not to be.
In January and February we saw 182 GP's appointments DNA'd, 183 Nurses and 98 Clinical Pharmacists. That's 45 hours of GP's time alone.
When we say DNA, we mean that the patient doesn't cancel, they just don't turn up.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE cancel your appointment if you cant make it or no longer need it. That way someone else can have it instead. You can cancel via the link in your confirmation message or on the phone.
