Our hub is on as usual this evening 4-6pm and then we will be meeting Ongar Round Table at 6pm and helping🛷🎅👀, Santa and his merry elves! We will be visiting Brook Fields, Moreton Rd, Coles Close & Fyfield Rd.

🚨🚨'LOCAL HERO' WINNER ANNOUNCED!!🚨🚨

We're delighted to announce that Mike Jones, Head of Education at Zinc Arts is this years' winner of our Ongar 'Local Hero Award' and as such will be launching this year's main display on Saturday 5th November at North Weald.

Nestled within the confines of what used to be Great Stoney Hall, Zinc Arts, a hidden gem that provides a dedicated space for adults with multiple and profound learning difficulties to learn within a holistic environment that promotes a therapeutic approach to core subjects including Maths, English, Science and Life Skills.

Mike Jones, the Head of Education is dedicated to making ZINC 'The happiest place in Essex' he started his professional career as an actor working across the UK and in London's West End, before dedicating the last 12 years to working with special education Projects and then Zinc Arts in Ongar.

Our Team had the opportunity to visit Zinc to see Mike in action as he prepared his students for their upcoming Christmas performance, Aladdin. We were all blown away by his commitment and dedication.

So last night we started our permanent night at Ongar Youth centre working in partnership with Zinc Arts & Essex Youth Service. What a great success it was 25 young people who had 2 hours of absolute fun. Lots of fun activities, lots of snacks, coaches available to speak to and a safe warm space to be themselves. Huge thank you to our team The Place to be Me CIC & Zinc Arts love what you do do what you love. Not sure who had more fun us or the young people. We are going to be running more nights, weekends and some specialist programmes. Watch this space #1:1

Positivity is contagious - we feel empowered when we are surrounded by a network of people who express good thoughts and provide enthusiastic support.

At The Place to be Me we are creating a community of positivity in which young people can learn new skills and feel empowered to reach their unlimited potential.

We offer a varied programme of free workshops, including classes on vision building and positive affirmations, so young people can learn how their good thoughts can shape their future and become reality.

Free Brave Thinking Workshop. A big thank you to M P Architects LLP for sponsoring this day.

This workshop is for young people aged between 12-14 years who would like to eliminate any fear, doubt or worry and move towards understanding who they are
and who they want to be.

We will work with them to identify challenges they may be experiencing, construct a plan to overcome them, recognise their strengths, ignite their passion, contribute
to their local community and be responsible for the future they want to create.

The day will be delivered by our amazing team of life coaches and will be a combination of fun activities, giving young people the brave thinking tools to master their life.

We have a limit of 20 places for this day. Please get in touch to book.

We are so excited and pleased to announce that TP2BME & Zinc Arts are now working in partnership with . We are very excited to be moving our hub permanently to the Ongar Youth Centre Ongar. ‘Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.’

Being told what to do or think can often be off-putting for young people, especially if they don’t feel valued or appreciated by those teaching them!

We all feel most valued when we feel a sense of belonging, and this is how young people learn most effectively.

The Place to be Me is an inclusive and youth-led space in which the concerns and thoughts of every young person are important.

We run a FREE youth hub every Thursday from 4:15-6:15pm at Ongar, and offer free 1-2-1 mentoring, so that young people can meet consistently with an experienced coach who will value their unique goals and experiences.

In our ever-changing world, it’s vital that young people learn to think critically and outside the box, so they are always equipped for the new and unique experiences and challenges they may come across in life.

Our team of experienced coaches offer 1-2-1 mentoring which gives young people the confidence and skills to navigate their own world, unlocking the power they already hold within themselves.

‘Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up.’

We are naturally creative and imaginative beings. If you create ANYTHING - a painting, a poem, a play, and so on - then you are an artist!

As we get older, we often make less time for creating things, and we miss out on the benefits of creating art: confidence building, stress reduction, the sense of accomplishment.

The Place to be Me gives young people the skills and confidence to create art in a safe and welcoming environment.

To commemorate the Queens reign and passing, Zinc arts are installing a creative space for the community, local groups and business to share their condolences.

Please look out for our installation at the front of Zinc arts centre in the next few days.

We welcome you to draw a portrait of the queen and bring it into Zinc, where we will laminate it and add it to the installation, all portraits must be on A4, use as much colour as you want this is a celebration of our beloved Queen

Love Music! Want to be a DJ! Want to be a headline Act?
DJing is now widely considered a true musical skill and we are very pleased to be able to offer a DJ workshop in a small group DJ lessons for young people aged 10 - 17. Our experienced, DBS checked DJ teachers have not only taught hundreds of children how to mix and create their own DJ sets, they are experienced DJ’s. With dance music continuing to grow in popularity, we feel that DJ lessons are a great option for kids who may not feel they want to learn a more traditional musical instrument but who love music and want to be able to be involved and be creative.

Our workshops are Thursday 4-6pm Ongar Essex
