A great few training days in the lakes, basing ourselves around Borrowdale to bag a few whilst completing three great routes. All can be found on Mountain Adventures & Training in more detail.

With the feedback from this year trip being very positive for all, we have already pencilled in the 4th to the 8th of September 2026 for more CPD in this area. Training will take place on the 5th, 6th, 7th and possibly the 8th.

Here are some of the highlights from 2025. With the weather against us (unfortunately), We now head down to North Wales to continue the Adventure with the Walking Group.

Just completed our final weekend of Navigation Training on the Mendips before heading back out to the Julian Alps.

Congratulations to Lee, on Successfully completing the NNAS Silver Award and who must of felt under pressure on day one having 2 other Tutors (Lee & Lynnie) along with Naomi for CPD. Lee showed outstanding skills throughout both days of the course but really did excel on day 2.

For all you National Navigation Award Scheme Tutors out there, Upper Limits UK has just taken order of a double sided Map with 1:25,000 scale on one side and 1:50,000 Scale on the reverse thanks to David @ Splashmaps. We will be using this on Our Intro, NNAS Bronze & future Tutor Courses as a fantastic training aid. Just a shame about the added postage Royal Mail

We will be looking to order others to cover both the Mendips and The Western Beacons for use on our NNAS Silver & NNAS Gold Navigation Awards in the near future.

It would be great to see Splashmaps & Harvey Maps establish a link so that we could use them more. Ordnance Survey just seem to be reactive rather than proactive in their approach.

As for Navigational Apps, and although we have many to demonstrate, the Upper Limits UK teams preference would be Hiiker both for ease of use, compatibility and the large range of maps and overlays it offers.

When it comes to kit for our bigger hill days it has to be LOWA for approach shoes and boots, Páramo Directional Clothing & Mac in a Sac for lightweight waterproof clothing and Lowe Alpine for our day & rucksacks.

Two great days over last weekend completing the Somerset Three Peaks.

We decided to not do this in one day but like the Three Castles Walk, Split it over two days and add some other great sections. The routes also took us out to the Chew Valley Lakes and also the Two Rivers Way which again would be a great route and one we may add to the list for next year!

Our route details can be found on Mountain Adventures & Training.

Next up we have a National Navigation Award Scheme Silver Award this coming weekend before we head out to the Julian Alps In August.

Tap into our walking group programme under events or call 01454 321153 for more information.

What an amazing trip over to the Julian Alps.

10 days, initially looking to bag Triglav at 2864m but witn the mountain huts not open until the 1st of July, this would have meant a huge mountain day of approx 16 - 18hrs.

So not to rush such an experience, we opted for some lower level summits and amazing walks.

Our two main summits were Mt Sija at 1880m which we combined with a low level route up to Slap Savica along with Visevnik at 2040m which was amazing and offered great views over the park once the cloud lifted..

We had also hoped to squeeze in Veliki Dranski yrh at 2240m but feeling under pressure on our last day, on an unmarked scrambly route, we decided to turn back at 1940m. Another 40m and we would have been over the worst but coming off would have taken far more time than we had planned given the loose rock.

I am back out there in August but also am looking at September 2026 to bag Krn and Triglav all being well.

All our routes and walks can be found in more detail on Mountain Adventures & Training.

We now move in to a period of running courses before heading to the Lakes and North Wales in September.

Here are the highlights of the trip.

Good to catch up with the Upper Limits Walking Group and get across to Ysgyryd Fawr for a variation on a previous route on Friday.

As we had based ourselves in Talgarth for the weekend, it gave us the perfect opportunity to make the most of the weather and squeeze in two further routes.

The first was over Fan Hir onto Fan Brycheiniog dropping over towards Carreg Goch and then on Sunday we avoided the crowds and headed out and around Pontsticill Reservoir and up onto the 617 trig on Cefn yr Ystrad which gave fantastic views right across the Bannau Brycheiniog - Brecon Beacons - National Park east to west.

More details of each walk and those up and coming can be found on Mountain Adventures & Training.

This week we have been back to delivering First Aid Courses.

First it was down to Wilton House, the residence of the Lord & Lady Pembroke, for both EFAW and Forestry First Aid for the grounds and farm teams.

The house was built in the mid 16th Century and has been used in for the filming of The Crown, Tomb Raider and even Black Adder to name but a few.

Hoping to get at least one walk in over the weekend before running two more EFAAW Courses in Windsor and The Cotswolds.

Its then over to Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 for 3 great walks.
Details of all courses and walks can be found on Mountain Adventures & Training
