Tried everything for your verruca… and it’s still there? 👣

Verruca needling targets the root of the problem — not just the surface.

By stimulating your immune system, this treatment can help your body recognise and fight off the virus more effectively, making it a great option for stubborn verrucas.

✔️ Suitable for persistent verrucas
✔️ Aims to target the cause
✔️ May require fewer treatments

If nothing else has worked, this could be worth considering.

📩 Book an initial assessment to see if it’s the right option for you.

Building back into running 🏃‍♂️
One of the most common causes of injury I see in clinic isn’t how people run — it’s how quickly they increase their training.
Your body adapts to load over time, not overnight.
Right now, I’m deliberately building my running volume conservatively. Even though I feel capable of doing more, I’m holding back — because consistency beats short bursts of overtraining every time.
Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of my runs on the Tarka Trail — one of the few places in North Devon where you can get properly flat, consistent miles in. Perfect for controlling training load and building up gradually without the added stress of hills.
Alongside running, I’m also cross-training with weights and rowing. This helps me:
✔️ Build strength
✔️ Improve resilience
✔️ Reduce injury risk
If you’re returning to running or increasing mileage, keep this in mind:
➡️ Gradual progression is key
➡️ Listen to your body (not just your watch)
➡️ Recovery is part of training
A simple rule: it’s better to finish a run feeling like you could’ve done more than to push too far and be forced to stop altogether.
Train smart, stay consistent, and your body will thank you 👣
If you’re struggling with running injuries or want guidance on building your training safely, feel free to get in touch at North Devon Footcare — I’m always happy to help.

Many people feel nervous when they hear the words nail surgery, but the procedure to treat ingrown toenails is actually very straightforward and is something we regularly perform at North Devon Footcare.
During the procedure the toe is fully numbed with local anaesthetic, the problematic edge of the nail is removed, and a solution is applied to stop that section of nail growing back. This helps prevent the ingrown nail from returning.
The appointment usually takes less than an hour, and most patients are able to walk out of the clinic afterwards with a dressing and clear aftercare instructions.
For people who have been struggling with recurring ingrown toenails, nail surgery can provide long-term relief and prevent ongoing pain or infection.
If you’re experiencing persistent ingrown toenails, we’re always happy to assess the problem and discuss the most appropriate treatment options.

One of the most common causes of heel pain we see at North Devon Footcare is Plantar Fasciitis.

The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot and helps support the arch. When this tissue becomes overloaded or irritated, it can lead to significant pain around the heel.

Many patients describe the pain as worst when they first step out of bed in the morning, or when standing up after sitting for a while.

At North Devon Footcare, patients with heel pain can book a musculoskeletal consultation, which includes a biomechanical assessment.

During this appointment we look at:

• How your feet function when standing and walking
• Ankle and calf muscle flexibility
• Areas of abnormal pressure or loading

Understanding why the heel pain has developed is key to creating an effective treatment plan.

Treatment may include:

• Targeted stretching and strengthening exercises
• Footwear advice
• Laser therapy to help reduce inflammation and support healing

If you’re experiencing ongoing heel pain, a musculoskeletal consultation at North Devon Footcare can help identify the cause and guide the most appropriate treatment. 👣

What do British Marathon Champions Paula Radcliffe, Sir Mo Farah, Lily Partridge, Philip Sesemann, Charlotte Purdue, Alyson Dixon, Natasha Cockram, Rose Harvey, Samantha Harrison and Eilish McColgan all have in common? 👟

They’ve all had a Biomechanical Assessment using Footscan technology 👣

At North Devon Footcare, we use the same advanced Footscan system to analyse how your feet load and function under pressure.

Marathon season is approaching… are your feet ready to go the distance? 🏃‍♂️🔥

Before the mileage builds and the long runs begin, make sure your foundations are solid.

In clinic, our Footscan assessment can identify:

👣 Imbalances between left and right loading
👣 Excessive pronation or supination
👣 Instability during dynamic foot strike
👣 Abnormal pressure patterns that may increase injury risk

The earlier we assess, the more time you have to:

✅ Optimise your training
✅ Reduce injury risk
✅ Improve comfort in your running shoes
✅ Consider bespoke orthoses where appropriate

Don’t wait until something starts hurting.

Prepare properly. Train smarter. Run stronger.

From someone who used to hate running… to someone who genuinely loves it 🏃‍♂️🌿
Growing up I was always sporty and active — I loved exercise — but running? Not a chance. Every time I tried, it hurt. My feet ached, my legs felt uncomfortable, and it just never felt right.
Fast forward to training as a podiatrist, and everything changed.
With the knowledge and clinical skills to properly assess movement, foot function, and biomechanics, I could finally see why running had always been so uncomfortable for me… and more importantly, how to fix it.
Now? I absolutely love getting out for a run after work. It’s my time to be out in nature, clear my head, unwind and de-stress after a busy day 👌
If running has always felt hard, uncomfortable, or painful for you — it doesn’t have to stay that way.
👉 You might just need the right assessment and plan.
If this sounds like you, I can help you move more comfortably and work towards your running and fitness goals.
📅 Book in for a musculoskeletal consultation at North Devon Footcare and let’s get you running happier.
