Lately my feed is full of ski advice… and it’s made me think about yoga.
New yogis are often flooded with cues, tips, and corrections before they’ve even found their footing.

I share online guidance with good intentions, but I keep asking myself—
is this supportive, or just more noise?

Some things really do land best in person.

So I’d love to know: what kind of support would actually help you right now?

💬 Drop a comment or DM me — I’m listening.

My favourite way to prep a dropback:

Lift the heart center first.
Root strongly through the legs.
Let the spine open as a whole.

The neck can’t lift you out of this - it’s the support from the legs and the buoyancy of the heart that carry you.

What’s the difference between yin & yang?

As both an acupuncturist and yoga teacher, these two concepts sit at the heart of everything I do.

In acupuncture, my role is to help rebalance the body’s energy systems—much like what we’re doing through pranayama and asana in yoga. Both practices work with the same principle: restoring harmony.

Yin is the softer, feminine quality of energy. It’s reflected in the moon, darkness, stillness, and rest. Yin is cooling, nourishing, and deeply reflective.

Yang, on the other hand, is associated with movement, vitality, warmth, and light. It’s the masculine quality—expressed through action, fire, and outward energy.

We need both. One isn’t better than the other. Yoga teaches us that balance is everything.

In fact, Haṭha yoga literally translates to:

Ha = sun (heating, activating)

Ṭha = moon (cooling, calming)

A reminder that the practice is about integrating these polarities, not choosing sides.

When I’m working with needles in the acupuncture clinic, I can be even more specific. Yang relates to movement and energy—something I can guide and regulate with precision. Yin is heavier and more material, linked to the body’s fluids (the natural decline of which we often see during menopause). Through acupuncture, I can stimulate and support these yin pathways as well.

Balance, always.

Yoga isn’t just what happens on the mat.
It’s what happens because of it.

It’s the pause before you react.
The breath before you spiral.
The choice to log off, slow down, or stay present when everything wants your attention.

The poses are just practice.
Life is the real classroom.

And the truth is — you’re probably practicing yoga far more often than you think.

I didn’t want to practice today, but getting going is usually the hardest part.

Save this for when you need it 🤍

Me: trying to find balance.

Cat: find out how much chaos I can cause.

Step 1: Inspect human posture

Step 2: Attempt gentle sabotage

Step 3: When in doubt… clean 🐾

Yoga teaches balance.

Cats teach humility.

Do you think she missed me?!?

What we notice first says a lot about how we practice.
And maybe even more about how we live.

Is it the shape?
The flexibility?
The “impressive” part?

Or do you notice the softness beneath it all — the ease, the breath, the presence?

Yoga was never about collecting shapes.
It’s about learning how to stay comfortable inside discomfort…
and then carrying that skill into conversations, boundaries, and relationships.

Without that translation, it’s just a fancy pose.
And maybe… just a dirty foot.

This is where the practice really begins.

Don't try everything you see in the gram 🤪🤣

A quick intro to Upward Facing Dog.

One of the most important foundations?
Stacking shoulders over wrists.

When the shoulders drift past the hands, the pose asks too much of the low back.
When they’re stacked, the backbend feels supported, spacious… lush.
