Outbreak of meningococcal disease linked to University of Kent and the area of Canterbury

Following from the recent Men B issues in Kent we have had several queries from concerned parents asking for their child to be vaccinated.

As it currently stands there are no changes to the current schedule of vaccinating. The vaccine is recommended for babies aged 8 weeks, followed by a second dose at 12 weeks and a booster at 1 year remaining eligible up to the age of 2 years.

Any changes to this would come as a directive from public health England which will happen if the child and or children are at risk the screening team at public health monitor this and we will receive notification.

We are keeping a close eye on this, but we are unable to vaccinate any child over the age of 2 years following the current schedule.
