Public Statement
We are deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic events that unfolded earlier today in Manchester.
On what should have been a day of solemn reflection and celebration for the Jewish community on Yom Kippur, we instead witness a moment of grief, with lives lost and many left with serious injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all those affected.
We commend the courage and quick actions of the security officer and worshippers who prevented the attacker from entering the synagogue, undoubtedly saving many lives. We also pay tribute to the bravery and professionalism of all the emergency services involved, including Greater Manchester Police, the North West Ambulance Service, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, as well as the many other agencies and voluntary sector partners who responded with such dedication.
Their efforts to protect our communities do not go unnoticed, and we remain united in our resolve against violence and hatred in all its forms.
