Meet Steve one of my gorgeous Saturday morning members
His Slimming World Journey started Feb 2023. Overweight and 50.
Here is his weight loss story.
Unhealthy and no longer enjoyed running. Things needed to change as I didn't recognise the old me.
Walking through the doors and starting food optimising was the best thing I've done. I quickly learnt that food optimising wasn't about small portions, and with a few tweaks I could still have most of my favourite meals.
Weeks and then months rolled by. I lost weight, usually 1.5-2,5lbs a week. People began to notice, I began to feel better about myself. I had lots of non scale victories too, smaller clothes, my 50 year old man health check coming back clear, I began running again and lots more.
This didn't happen overnight. It built gradually . I'd gone from a sedentary 3000 steps a day to well over a 10000.
For six months I completed a daily food diary. I no longer do it as my choices are now natural food optimising, but I know it's there to use as and when I need it. I returned to my diary when I was struggling with the last few lbs to target. I had the wonderful support of the Saturday morning group. We had a common goal and found it motivating and inspiring and fun. I had an amazing consultant in Joanna not only talking the talk but walking the walk on the journey with us.
Best advice I could give is change your mindset, set mini goals, put yourself first (be selfish if needed), attend group and complete a food diary until it's become a habit.
Is it hard.....Damm right it's hard! But getting to target is so rewarding and to share that journey with like minded people with the same goal is life changing.
