๐Ÿ—๏ธ Important Notice: Building Work at the Surgery ๐Ÿ—๏ธ

From 15th September to 13th October 2025, our surgery will be undergoing some exciting building work to create additional clinical rooms and invest in modern, improved healthcare facilities for our patients. ๐Ÿฅโœจ

This is a positive step forward to help us provide even better care, but during this time, there may be some disruption.

๐Ÿ”น There may be some noise during the day.
๐Ÿ”น Some appointments may be held in different rooms than usual.
๐Ÿ”น Our car park may be busier than normal.

Weโ€™re working hard to keep disruption to a minimum, including doing as much work as possible at weekends and out of hours, but some inconvenience is unfortunately unavoidable.

๐Ÿ™ We really appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. The improvements will benefit all our patients, and we canโ€™t wait to welcome you to our updated space soon!

We have a new email address for the Medication Team to receive your medication requests and any medication queries you may have.

๐Ÿ“ข Important Update: Changes to Blood Test (Phlebotomy) Services ๐Ÿ“ข

We want to inform you about some important changes to how blood tests are arranged at GP surgeries. These changes have been introduced by the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) and apply to all local GP practices, including Library House Surgery.

๐Ÿ”น Whatโ€™s Changing?
GP surgeries are now responsible for most blood tests requested by your GP. In some cases, we can do a small number of tests requested by hospital consultants, but this is limited.

๐Ÿ”น Hospital (Consultant) Blood Tests
We are only funded to carry out up to 5% of hospital-requested blood tests. Most hospital blood tests will need to be done at the hospital. We can only perform them if capacity allows, itโ€™s clinically appropriate, and all correct paperwork is provided.

โ›” If youโ€™re unhappy with this arrangement, please note these changes are set by the ICB, not the GP practice.

Due to staff sickness today, we are struggling with the number of appointments we have on offer for our on the day service. We are trying to bring in additional cover to help, but if your issue is non urgent and you are able to wait until later in the week to contact us, we would ask you do so.

Please remember staff answering the phones or on the front desk, have no control over this situation, it is not their fault and they will likely be as frustrated as you are by the situation. Thank you for understanding and patience.

Whilst not an employee of LHS, Dr Waqar-Uddin was a local GP and someone who many of our staff knew or even worked with in the past. Equally we may have patients who knew him, so we thought it appropriate to share the details of his funeral, for those wishing to pay their respects.

DR. ZAKARIYA WAQAR-UDDIN

On behalf of the family, we can now share details of the funeral arrangements.

Requiem Mass will be held at St. Mary's R.C Church, Euxton on Monday 9th June 2025 at 12noon, followed by interment in the Churchyard.

Everyone who knew him are welcome to attend, there is no dress code, therefore if you wish to wear colourful clothing you are welcome to do so.

Donations in memory of Dr. Waqar-Uddin are being gratefully received to benefit 'C.A.F.O.D' ( cafod.org.uk), a charity which was close to his heart.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of local GP, Zakariya Waqar-Uddin and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

Many of our staff knew Zak in some capacity, be it as a colleague they worked with, a local GP they would see at meetings, a member of the LMC and for some he was their GP.

Please remember it's okay not to be okay. If you need to speak to someone, Samaritans are available 24/7, just call 116 123. Or locally, you can access mental health support via the Crisis line, 24/7 on 0800 953 0110.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to all those affected by loss.

Officers searching for missing 44-year-old Zakariya Waqar-Uddin sadly found the body of a man earlier today (Wednesday 21st May).

Whilst the man has not yet been formally identified, Zakariyaโ€™s family have been informed and our thoughts remain with them during this difficult time.

The death is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
