Victor began his running journey in December 2023, building up his training towards a 10k. In April 2024, he came to Summit experiencing significant right leg pain. Attempts to stretch, rest, and return to running were unsuccessful, as the pain persisted whenever he tried to train. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯

On assessment, it was clear Victor had sustained a muscular strain involving his quadriceps and adductor group, likely from a combination of increased training load. His rehabilitation focused on reducing pain and improving load tolerance through soft tissue treatment, progressive strengthening, and mobility work. As his rehab progressed, we reintroduced controlled running drills, gradually increasing both distance and intensity while ensuring his muscles adapted safely to the demands of training. πŸ’ͺπŸ“ˆ

Now, Victor’s progress has been remarkable. Not only has he been able to complete three 10k runs completely pain-free, but he has also gone on to finish his second half marathon. ⭐ How to fix lateral pelvic tilt ⭐

🧘 Stretch out the tight side:

βœ… Side bend stretch – Stand tall, reach one arm overhead, and lean to the side. This helps loosen the muscles that pull your hip up.

βœ… Inner thigh stretch – Sit with your legs apart and gently lean toward the tighter side.

βœ… Hip stretch – Kneel with one leg forward, tuck your hips under, and lean forward.

πŸ’ͺ Strengthen the weaker side:

➑️ Clam exercise – Lie on your side with knees bent, then open and close the top knee like a clam shell.

➑️ Leg lifts – Lie on your side and slowly lift the top leg up and down.

➑️ Side plank – Prop yourself on your elbow and lift your hips up. (You can do this on your knees to make it easier.)

➑️ Hands and knees balance – On all fours, lift one arm and the opposite leg, keeping your back level.

πŸ“ Everyday habits:

πŸ”Ή Don’t always carry your bag on the same shoulder.

πŸ”Ή Try not to stand with your weight on one leg for long periods.

πŸ”Ή When sitting, keep both feet flat on the ground and your hips level.

πŸ”Ή Pick exercises where both legs work evenly (like squats or bridges).

πŸ”Έ Roll out tight muscles with a foam roller or massage ball.

πŸ”Έ Check your mattress β€” if it sags or is too soft, it can make things worse.

Max is a semi-professional footballer and plays in the goalkeeping position, in which he unfortunately suffered with recurring knee dislocations. It was decided that surgery was the best option, and he had left knee surgery for this in early May this year. ⚽️🦡

After some weeks of early-stage rehab and rest at home, Max attended sessions with Laura at Wrightington to recover and rebuild strength post-surgery. πŸ₯πŸ’ͺ

Max recovered so well, and at each milestone/marker, was hitting the stages he needed to be hitting. Rehab sessions were focused on quad strengthening, hamstring strengthening and lengthening, glute strengthening, which progressed onto straight-line running then more explosive and dynamic movements. πŸš€πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Max has been able to do a 3k run without pain, and is looking to return to football when he can when he starts university. We wish Max well for the rest of his recovery and good luck for the start of his studies at university. πŸŽ“πŸ†

From Setbacks to Success: πŸ’ͺ A Client's Journey to Empowerment ✨

Back in March, after recovering from a right hip fracture the year before, our client was building back her running and HYROX training strong πŸƒβ™€οΈπŸ”₯

But... she started feeling pain in her left hip. An MRI revealed another femoral neck fracture πŸ˜“ This raised some concerns about Relative Energy Deficiency (RED-S), so we advised her to check her bloods, monitor her menstrual cycle, and link in with a nutritionist for support.

After a 6-week offload and a smart rebuild over the summer, she was back competing pain-free at a Metrix event in August πŸ™Œ

Now? She’s training wisely, feeling stronger than ever, and heading into the new HYROX season with confidence πŸ’₯
