Now this a story, all about how, my life got flipped turned upside down, and I'd like to take minute just sit right there, to tell you how I became a coach in a town in Lancashire. I'm sorry about that, I just couldn't help myself π§π§π§
Seriously though, the man you see before you did not come from a lifetime of going to the gym and putting himself first.
After growing up in a violent household, and making some serious life errors, my habits and coping mechanisms were less than optimal. A heavy drinker, smoker and an unquenchable thirst for self destruction. I moved out of my family home at 17, and although I made it to university, I had piled on the pounds and drank pretty much every day. This cumulated in me getting in to trouble with the police and at this point I knew something had to change. I got myself an office job and worked my back off climbing the corporate ladder, 50 hour weeks and very little time for myself. My career was going so well, but I put it before everything else, and although my life choices had improved significantly I still smoked like a chimney, enjoyed many a takeaway and drank more pints than I should.
Finally I made the switch, replaced pints for protein shakes, KFC for grilled chicken and sitting on my arse for smashing weights and running marathons.
I dropped 3 and half stone and took control of my life. Did I cut out booze completely? NO. Never have a takeaway again? Absolutely not. Spend every waking minute in the gym? Zero chance of that. What I did do was adjust the dial and balance fun with better choices and a more active lifestyle.
My personal accomplishments include Ironman triathlon competing at the world championships in 10h 24m, black belt in shotokan karate, sub 1h10m Hyrox, half marathons, full marathons to name a few.
I set up Triple fitness in 2014 and have helped 100s of busy professionals to move the dial, balance their busy schedules and social lives with a more healthy outlook on life. Creating competent, confident and consistent gym goers that love their exercise, eat well but most importantly, don't let all of that mean they feel like they are missing out on the fun parts of life.
