Psoriasis affects people of all genders, races and ages, and can appear on various parts of the body at any time. No one really knows what causes it and that’s why it’s so important to understand how to manage it effectively when symptoms arise.

Every individual is unique and finding the right approach can take time. If you’re struggling, book an appointment with your GP or find more information here:

The National Psoriasis Foundation is here to help you get the treatment you need while promoting research to find a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

Normally losing extra hair is nothing to worry about, but excessive loss can be a sign of an underlying condition so if you’re worried, it’s important to speak to your Doctor.

‼️Hot weather and transdermal patches‼️

➡️In this hot weather, if you use any form of prescription transdermal patch (e.g., pain relief or contraceptive, or HRT), it’s important to keep the area cool

➡️Elevated temperatures can cause the patch to release too much medication over a quicker period of time, so it’s important to keep it out of direct heat, and watch for any side effects.

If you’re concerned, please seek medical advice.

🫗Dehydration🫗

When the weather is very warm, you may be at risk of dehydration if you don’t adequately replace the fluid you lose through sweating and p*eing. Babies, children and older adults are most at risk. You can help to minimise the risk of dehydration by ensuring you drink enough to keep your p*e a pale-yellow colour. You can increase your fluid intake by eating foods that are high in liquids, such as jelly, ice cream, melon, cucumber or soup.

➡️

Dehydration is when your body loses more fluid than you take in. Find out what the symptoms of dehydration are, how to prevent it and when to get medical help.

Hay fever 🥹🌻

If you’re sneezing more than talking lately, you’re not alone! Hay fever (AKA allergic rhinitis) can really make the warmer months difficult. It causes itchy eyes, a runny nose, sneezing and coughing, a headache or pain around the sides of your head or forehead, loss of smell and feeling tired.

Here are some tips to help you cope during peak pollen season:
✅Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes
✅Keep windows closed during high pollen times
✅Shower and change your clothes after being outside
✅Antihistamines can help – talk to a pharmacist if you’re struggling

✏️Admin requests✏️
Did you know you can send admin queries to us 24/7? (yes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!) 😁

We aim to respond to these within 2 working days so if its not urgent, complete a form and we will get back to you. You can do this for things like:

✅Doctors letter request’s, private insurance requests etc. (we will text or ring you with the charge required)
✅Request for a sick note
✅Referral follow up
✅Test results (you can also see these on the NHS app)
✅Something else- any other admin related query just complete the form and we will get back to you.

Using this option means you can do it at a time convenient for you without needing to call or visit the surgery. This also reduces phone line congestion and waiting times, improving accessibility for everyone.

You can use this function within the NHS App or by going to our website www.thechorleysurgery.com and clicking on ‘contact us online’.

☀️UV Safety Month ☀️
📍(1st - 31st July)

While it’s important for our overall health to ensure that we get some Vitamin D, it’s also important to ensure that we protect our skin when the sun is out.
It’s best to avoid being out in the sun when it’s at its strongest between 11am and 3pm during the period from March to October.
You can read additional sun safety information here:
