One of our new residents, Brian, was especially excited to join us on the recent minibus trip to Boscombe.

Residents recalled their happy times they experienced on the beach and in the surrounding area over tea and coffee on the minibus.

Our residents recently enjoyed harvesting the many tomatoes growing in our garden.

While picking, they shared ideas about what delicious dishes could be made with them. A favourite suggestion was a fresh tomato and feta salad, which we happily arranged for everyone to enjoy the following day.

We're so proud to share that Avon Reach Care Home won first place in this year’s Christchurch Carnival parade with our spectacular W***y Wonka-themed float!

Our minibus was transformed, while staff, residents, and family members joined in the fun by dressing up as beloved characters. The hard work, creativity, and community spirit truly paid off, earning us the winners’ shield for the year and a £100 prize, which we are delighted to be donating to Avon Reach's chosen charity, Christchurch Community Partnership.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring the magic to life - and to the carnival organisers for such a joyful event.

We were delighted to welcome back Colten’s Music and Arts Partner, Fiona, for our Avon Reach choir practice recently.

The morning was filled with planning and singing as we prepare for a special visit from our sister home, Kingfishers Care Home.

Soon, both homes will come together for an afternoon of music, laughter, and fun: a wonderful opportunity to share our love of singing and build friendships

Residents enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon celebrating International Beer Day with a tasting session featuring five beers from around the world 🍻

As they sampled each one, they had a go at guessing which country 🌍 To accompany the drinks, everyone tucked into traditional pub snacks including classic pork scratching.

We’re proud to continue supporting families in the Christchurch community by donating 40 packed lunches each week throughout the school summer holidays.

Shirley, one of our residents, joined us for the first drop-off recently at Christchurch Food Bank.

During her visit, Shirley had the opportunity to have a tour around the facility and was moved by the incredible work being done to help local families 💛

Recently, we have been working on nurturing lots of different plants in Gardening Club 🪴🌼

The residents love learning about all the different plants, and many said how it reminded them of their gardening years at home.

We also realised our strawberries were finally ready for harvesting, having been planted last year, and it was a very successful first crop of the summer 🍓

For our most recent choir practice, Jo started the choir off with familiar songs such as ‘Morning Has Broken,’ ‘You Are My Sunshine,’ and ‘Wouldn’t It Be Lovely.’

But she had prepared some new songs for everyone to sing as we recently welcomed some gentlemen into the choir, which gives our sound even more depth.

We're excited to debut our new numbers! 🎶🎤

We recently took the minibus to Salisbury Cathedral for the day. Our residents were all amazed by the exquisite stone masonry and stain glass windows throughout the entire building.

As some had visited before, they reminisced about past visits. While we were, we also had the privilege of admiring a stone mason at work.

Our residents gathered to enjoy a leisurely tasting of handcrafted cocktails and mocktails, designed to bring a splash of summer to the day 🍸🍹

Chef Justin thoughtfully prepared a platter of fresh fruits too, which were added to each pitcher for a colourful and refreshing touch.

Our trip to the Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum was perfect: we were lucky enough to visit on a day when the local motorcycle club have their monthly meet up, so residents got to see bikes from throughout the years 🏍️

Michael saw a bike he remembered his dad riding when he was young called a Sunbeam, and he enjoyed reminiscing with us whilst admiring the bike 💛
