A new challenge.

Turning myself upside down reminds me that growth doesn’t always feel comfortable - but it does feel alive.

Backbends are not about flexibility or fancy poses. They are about balance.

Long hours sitting, working, driving and scrolling - all place the body in a forward-folded position. Gentle back bending helps counteract this by opening the chest, mobilising the spine and supporting deeper breathing.

Benefits include:
• Feeling more energised and alert
• Improved posture and spinal mobility
• Better breathing capacity
• Reduced tension in the upper body
• A noticeable lift in mood and focus

You don’t need a long workout or extreme ranges of motion. A few slow, mindful backbends can be enough to create a real shift - physically and mentally.

47 years of learning, unlearning and trusting myself a little more.

Things I have learned along the way:
• Moderation over extremes (in food, work, life)
• Letting go of expectations brings a lot more peace
• Planning ahead saves time and energy
• Time is precious - don’t waste it
• Being with people who truly value me
• Trusting my intuition (it knows)
• Stepping outside my comfort zone
• Trying new things - even if they feel scary at first

Feeling thankful for the people, the growth, and the journey.

My intention for the New Year: changing perspective, learning new ways and staying open to the unexpected.

Turning things upside down - physically and mentally - helps to shift perspective, clear the mind, sharpen the focus and invite us back into the present moment.

Sometimes, all it takes is seeing things from a different angle.

I’m definitely solar-powered. A bit of sunshine lifts me instantly 😊 And if I’m near the sea, my energy doubles. But in the cold, grey UK winter, staying positive can feel like a full-time job. The days are short, the light is scarce, and everything can feel a little… heavy.

Here is what helps me keep my battery topped up when the sun is playing hard to get:

🌤️ Get outside whenever there is light:
Even 10 minutes of daylight can give your mood a boost. A quick walk, a coffee on the doorstep, or just standing by a window - it all adds up.

💡 Use ‘fake sun’ wisely:
A daylight lamp or light therapy box can make a noticeable difference, especially on those endlessly grey days.

🚶‍♀️ Keep moving (gently counts!):
A brisk walk, a stretch, or a few mobility exercises can shift both energy and mindset. Movement creates its own sunshine.

🌿 Create small daily comforts:
Warm drinks, cosy layers, candles, music - tiny rituals help the season feel softer and more nurturing.

🤝 Stay connected:
A quick chat with a friend can work wonders. Winter feels heavier when we try to push through it alone.

Some places simply stay with you - whether you are standing there in the sunshine or carrying them quietly in your heart. The UAE was home for more than a decade, and every visit still feels like slipping back into a familiar embrace.

But in the end, ‘home’ is wherever my family is and in the UAE, friends truly become family too 🥰

Progress is not always pretty or linear - and that’s perfectly fine. Some days you will feel strong and focused. Other days you will wobble, fall, or take a few steps back.

What matters is that you keep showing up.

Each try builds strength, each pause builds awareness, each day moves you 1% closer to where you want to be.

Stay patient. Stay curious. Keep going - whatever your goal might be.
