Hello, my name is Dave, and I am the newest (and shortest) member of the team at Birch Heath Lodge.
I am a miniature dachshund, so I will always be small, but my personality is growing every day and there is nothing small about that!
I was 12 weeks old when I started my career at Birch Heath Lodge. I live at home with my Mum, Dad and Brother and I’m currently working on a flexible rota pattern, but I work between Mondays and Fridays. My Mum is the home Manager but I that doesn’t mean I get special treatment, and I must work hard.
My Role involves providing comfort, happiness and entertainment to our Residents at Birch Heath Lodge, and I don’t like to blow my own trumpet, but I think my presence in the home is appreciated by all, I feel so loved and I truly hope that everyone feels the love I give back. My role also involves HR support, I support the staff by providing them with an opportunity to relax and relieve the stresses of the day by stroking and playing games with me.
I understand that not everyone loves dogs and that some people may even be frightened or allergic to them. If this is the situation then just let the staff know, I would never impose myself on anybody and if I am aware I will either stay away or I will ask to be introduced to you slowly if you would prefer.
My hopes for the future are to continue to grow up within the community at Birch Heath lodge and develop my skills as an emotional support dog.
Safety – I am a clean boy, my mum makes sure of that, I am up to date with all my vaccinations and have regular check-ups at the vets however I want you to be safe when stroking, cuddling and playing games with me so please follow my advice
1. Always wash your hands after I have visited you.
2. Don’t encourage me to lick your skin even if I really want too.
Please help me to stay safe and healthy by being gentle with me and not feeding me any titbits, I would love titbits, but my mum says I’m not allowed.
