Massage Therapy and Covid-19
I would like to thank my massage clients for their continued patience since I took the decision to cancel all treatments in the week before the 23rd March. I have received more enquiries for my massage services in this period of lockdown than in any other three month period since I trained as a masseur in 2010.
I would like to clear up a couple of points common in these queries. Firstly, I will not be taking bookings from the 4th of July. The government has published Close contact services: Guidance for keeping workers and clients safe in close contact services (23 June), in which it states that while hairdressers and barbershops can re-open on 4 July, other businesses offering close contact services such as beauty, sports and massage therapy, and wellbeing and holistic services, are to remain closed “until further notice”. This also applies to those who provide mobile close contact services from their homes and in other people’s homes.
Secondly, I am aware that physios are providing treatments at this time. However, physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors are statutory regulated health professionals and listed as ‘exceptions’. As a self-employed masseur I do not belong to a regulated body and if I continued to operate against government guidelines my insurance would become invalid.
Please keep an eye on https://www.facebook.com/Stuart-Davidson-Massage-199599450096476/ for further updates. In the meantime, I am happy to continue answering your queries and discussing future treatment plans.
Until normal service can resume, thank you for your understanding and do stay safe.
