It's been another very busy week for the dog therapy team and it was fabulous to spend time outside in the sunshine for the first time this year on Thursday with the fabulous students from Ormiston Meridian Academy. On Wednesday we were working with the students at Watermill School, and this is an amazing school. The staff are incredible and I've had the pleasure of working with some amazing young people. Today we finished the week off with the fabulous team at Castle Hill school. Another incredible school, with caring and kind staff and some amazing young people.

Savouring success is an important element of healthy emotional growth and development. The work I do with my dogs and young people allows me to experience a lot of success. These experiences are amazing on their own, but how we support the experiences is an equally important element in the healthy development of that person.
A natural response to success is to offer praise straight away. But, by doing this we could be taking away the sensation of success.
Taking a moment to allow the young person to savour the moment is an important step in helping to develop self-confidence and self-worth. I use the acronym SIFT which helps the young person to understand all of the sensations that success brings.
Recognising the associated sensations, images, feelings and thoughts of the young persons success will increase their self-worth, self-confidence and esteem and support their continued development.

Angus is 13 this year and he still loves working. Today he had a fantastic time with one of our young people. Minus a few teeth but no joint issues he still loves to play and chew on a football.

You might not like this, but I don’t take on unlimited dogs. 🐶

I’ve always kept my diary intentionally small so I can give each dog the time, attention and care they deserve. That means structured walks, thoughtful introductions, and making sure every dog in my care feels safe and understood.

The good news? I now have a few spaces available for new clients.
Whether your dog needs reliable daytime walks, help building confidence on lead, or a consistent routine while you’re at work, I focus on calm, positive handling and small groups so no one gets overlooked. Your dog won’t just be “fit in” — they’ll be properly looked after. 🐾

If you’ve been meaning to find support but weren’t sure where to start, this could be a good time to get in touch. I’m happy to answer questions and talk through what would suit your dog best.

Send me a message to check availability or arrange an initial chat.

I was thrilled to receive this positive feedback from a recent client. This was a case with a Cocker Spaniel which those of you that know me are always of interest to me. What really stood out about this case is how the family all worked together including the children to support their young dog's positive learning journey and provide a positive outcome.

We contacted Adam for support with our cocker spaniel’s reactivity towards some other dogs, as well as a couple of day to day issues with anxiety at home when people arrive or leave our property. Adam visited us to discuss all of our concerns and came up with a bespoke report with techniques to help. We also met Adam for a couple of walks with his dogs. Adam has helped us to increase our confidence when walking our dog, as well as giving us tips to manage our dogs behaviour in a positive way. He has a calm and relaxed approach which really suited us; we felt like he listened to our concerns and ensured that we felt supported in our dog’s training. We know Adam is only at the end of the phone if we need his support and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone who requires behaviour support with their dog(s)

Working with students in our communities

Children are able to attune themselves to different types of learning if we give them the appropriate developmental experiences. I work with local schools and colleges with my rescue dog from Cyprus Angus. Dogs are a social lubricant for my students and encourage greater social interactions, bridge social gaps, reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness. Working with dogs in a respectful and humane manner provides my students with integrational social benefits and develops positive contributions to the students and the community for the future.
