Summer holidays are officially here…
That means routines shift, kids are home, the heat ramps up, and suddenly your “me time” feels like a distant memory.

🧃 Hydration - It's not glamorous, but it's essential. Sip water like it’s rosé at a BBQ.

📆 Looser routines - Let go of perfect schedules. Some weeks will be off - that’s OK.

📣 “Should I cut carbs to lose weight?”
Ever Googled that at 10pm on a Sunday night? If so, you’re not alone.

There are so many diets out there that tell you to cut this or ban that - no bread, no pasta, no dairy, no fruit (yep, even fruit’s been dragged into it).

But here’s the thing:
✨ Cutting out entire food groups might get you quick results, but it’s rarely sustainable.
✨ It can lead to cravings, binges, low energy, and feeling like you've “failed” if you slip up.
✨ Worst of all - it can make food feel like the enemy.

At Empower Fit, we don’t do food guilt.

And we definitely don’t tell you to ditch your toast.

“Personal training? Me? I don’t think so…”

That’s exactly what one of my clients said the first time we chatted.

She pictured someone barking orders while she cried into her protein shake...
And she hadn’t set foot in a gym since the early 2010s.

But here’s what she didn’t expect:

🟢 That she wouldn’t have to do burpees (unless she wanted to)
🟢 That we’d laugh - a lot
🟢 That it’d feel like a proper catch-up, just with a few lunges thrown in

☀️ With summer here and swimsuit season around the corner…
It’s that time of year when we start hearing it more and more:

❓“What can I do to get rid of my mum tum?”

If you’ve ever Googled ‘best ab workout’ before a holiday - you’re not alone. We all have those areas we’d love to tone up before slipping into a swimsuit.

But here’s the honest truth 👉 you can’t target fat loss in just one area. Doing crunches every day won’t magically flatten your tummy. (If only it were that simple!)

What does help:
✅ Moving regularly - find what you enjoy
✅ Building strength - not just abs, your whole body
✅ Supporting your energy & mood with food choices
✅ Managing stress and sleep (they play a huge part)
✅ Being patient and kind to yourself

That “mum tum” is often a mix of posture, core strength, hormones, life, and let’s be real - you grew a human. Your body deserves credit, not criticism.

If your goal is to feel stronger, more confident, and comfortable in your skin this summer - you’re already on the right path. 💛

Progress isn’t always loud or obvious.

Sometimes it’s quiet - just showing up, even when you don’t really feel like it.

Maybe it’s coming to class after a long day, or fitting in a few stretches at home when time’s tight.

It’s those little things that add up, even if they don’t feel like much in the moment.

You don’t have to sprint or be perfect. Honestly, all you need to do is keep putting one foot in front of the other. That’s what counts - consistency, not perfection.

So whether you’re in class with us, doing your own thing, or just taking a moment for yourself - you’re doing better than you realise. And that’s something to be proud of.

The first meet up in the Forest of Dean, Cinderford Miners Welfare Skate Park.
28th June 2025.
This will be a meet up point for people who are interested in getting together at the Cali park and having a play.
This is not a coaching session. It’s a space to come along and meet people but also come and share.
Everyone comes along and practices at their own risk.
We have guest coach Tim and also Dan to offer physio assessments.

You don’t have to decide if you’re coming now (you can just turn up on the day) but it would be great to get a feel in advance! It just helps us if we know.
This is an adult only meet up.

Come along and be part of the Forest of Deans first and only Calisthenics group.
