Caffeine hit the headlines again today so I put together a little guide which you'll find on my website (link in comments).

Here's a summary:
👉 Well researched supplement that can benefit sports performance and cognitive function, even when sleep deprived
👉 Needs to be consumed in safe amounts and not if you are pregnant, breast-feeding, or a child
👉 Is a morning-drink; does impact sleep; doesn't directly cause dehydration

"What is your view on weight-loss drugs?"

A long discussion followed, as surprise was expressed at my view. The expectation is often that I will oppose the use of weight-loss medications, but I don't think it's that simple.

Weight loss drugs are here to stay, and will be life-changing for some.

Research so far is centred on overweight and obesity. Tackling these conditions is what the medication is intended for. We don't actually know what the long term implications of taking it outside of these conditions could mean.

In the meantime, if weight-loss medication is helping you, please make sure you are prescribed these meds safely, and that you are seeking the support you need so that your diet whilst you are on them gives you the nutrients you need for your health and to help you stay healthy afterwards.

This was a fascinating and insightful discussion with Graham Easton, Simon Cork and Tony Goldstone, covering the benefits, complications, costs, funding, weight stigma, biology, society and food environment considerations surrounding GLP-1 weight loss drugs, such as Wegovy and Mounjaro.

The expert insight and perspective shared during this hour was amazing, for which I am grateful, and my congratulations go to for encouraging the conversation and holding such an outstanding and valuable event.

Why do we need a new approach to nutrition? Because nutrition is one of the most confusing and unregulated areas in health. Would you agree?

I think it’s safe to say most advice people receive is outdated, unverified, or based on personal bias - not science. There’s a lack of trusted places for individuals and professionals to turn to for clear, evidence-based support.

I want to change that.

I offer professional, practical nutrition services to individuals - yes - but more than that, I also work on building my network so I can safely refer you to other professionals if you are seeking answers about things outside of my scope.

Like a referral hub.

In my view, this is essential for ensuring a quality of service that is safe, and truly meets the needs of you as an individual.

Myth Busting

A journey with PCOS, gestational diabetes, weight loss and a love of lifting led naturally to my passion for nutrition, as I realised that I was only ever going to make the changes and achieve the results that I wanted if I got my diet and nutrition right. This turned out to be easier said than done - getting your diet right is actually pretty difficult to do because the nutrition industry is shrouded in myth and bad science. This fascinated me as much as it frustrated me, because surely this should not be the case this day and age??? I went down a few rabbit holes and got mislead by Dr Google often. Over time I learned to fuel my body for performance and also for recovery from injury pretty well, but at the same time the more I learned, the more I knew I didn’t know. The only way to decipher it once and for all was to study health and performance nutrition in depth, and this I did with the world renowned MNU. I haven’t looked back.
