This week I’ve been asked by 2 separate massage therapists in my area to treat them in their own therapy spaces.
What an honour! 🥰

Being a massage therapist is physically demanding work, and with busy clinics, full diaries, and using our bodies every day to support others, regular treatments are essential.

If you’re a therapist based in the Gloucester, Cheltenham or Stroud area and have your own treatment room, this could be a simple option for you:
Receiving your own treatment in your own space, using your own couch and setup, without the added time, travel, or mobile surcharge.

If this sounds like a win-win way to make looking after yourself a bit easier, just drop me a message 🤍

My partner has been struggling with lower back pain, on the right hand side. On assessment, we found that the problem could be coming from the fact that his hip flexors are incredibly tight.

The lower back muscle called the QL (quadratus lumborum) attaches from the pelvis to the 12th rib and L1-L4 of the spine.

When the muscles at the front of your hips get tight, they can pull the pelvis forward and change how the lower back moves.

That can make the QL work overtime, especially during twisting, which is why it can feel tight or ‘on fire’.

So by releasing the front of the hips, we can take some of that load off the lower back and help movement feel easier.

So much for my “hands off” / admin day 😏
Well… good opportunity to get some content and I can’t let my 🤍 be in pain can I? ☺️

It’s an incredible feeling to end my (massaging) week with a client who came in saying, “I feel really good - no pain at all!”

This client first came to me with severe upper back pain that had stopped her from sitting or sleeping comfortably for a week. She also had stiffness spreading into her neck and across her chest, along with ongoing lower back pain.

On assessment, we identified several key areas contributing to the issue that were locked in a shortened position, and there was limited range of movement in a few areas.

After the first session, her upper back pain reduced from a 7/10 to a 2/10.

She committed to treatments every two weeks, and today was her sixth session where she reported no pain at all, after we had resolved various niggles that showed up along the way.

With nothing specific to “fix,” we instead did a general full-body deep tissue massage.

This is a great example of a full journey - from significant pain to none at all.

A huge thank you to this client for her commitment to the process and for trusting me with your care - you know who you are! ☺️ It was a pleasure to work with you x

It’s a great end to a great week. I’m feeling happy… but I’m also very tired. So I’m celebrating with a little lie down and a Toblerone!🤘

Have you been ignoring niggles and pain for weeks, months… maybe even years??

Constant discomfort can get us down and can become a “secret” we hold from ourselves and our loved ones.

We hope it will just “go away” if we ignore it.
But over time it just gets worse if untreated.

You don’t have to suffer in the constant discomfort. Your body wants you to feel better and Sports Massage can help!

What is it costing your wellbeing by continuing to ignore the problem?

If you’re unsure if sports massage / soft tissue therapy is right for you, I’m very happy to have a conversation with you and answer any questions you may have ✨

Burning between the shoulder blades? 🔥

That tight, aching feeling often comes from muscles that are overworked, tense, or irritated from long hours sitting at a desk, driving, or dealing with stressful work situations. When this keeps happening, the muscles around the upper back can become stuck in a lengthened, overloaded position - like a stretched rubber band that can’t fully relax.
This can lead to sensitivity, pain, and the tissue can become full of trigger points.

Sports massage to help with that burning feeling between the shoulder blades isn’t just about working on the sore spots. It’s also about identifying where other tissue may be tight and restricted. Often the muscles at the front of the body and around the rib cage become shortened and stiff, in this case, which can place extra strain on the upper back and between the shoulder blades.

Posture isn’t always the only cause of course, and long-standing issues may take more than one session to properly settle. But clients often say they feel looser, lighter, and more comfortable straight after the first treatment.

Come and find out if sports massage can ease away your desk-work niggles 😉

One thing I love about my job is the sense of fulfilment I get after I’ve completed with each client.

I think as humans, we’re naturally wired to feel a sense of reward when we achieve something. In my previous corporate roles, the customer demand and workload were never-ending, work was flying in from all angles, and multitasking was essential. This often left me feeling overwhelmed, dysregulated and like I was never really finishing anything, and always working towards someone else’s goals and timelines.

This job allows me to give my full attention, focus, time, and care to one person at a time, from start to finish, knowing I’ve done the job well before moving on to the next. Zero distractions. Even if the issue isn’t fully resolved, I still take confidence in knowing I’ve made some kind of difference every time I have someone on my massage couch.

Don’t get me wrong, the business development behind the massaging is never-ending, but it’s on my terms, and it’s all building towards my own goals and dreams.

Grateful for it all! 🙏✨

It’s amazing that you come for your massage once a month 🤍
That one hour matters. It helps your nervous system reset, your muscles release, and your mind slow down.

But here’s something to think about…

There are around 720 hours in a month.
Your massage is just 1 of them.

That means 99.8% of your time is spent outside the treatment room.

And that’s where the biggest impact actually happens.

✨ How you move your body
✨ How much water you’re drinking
✨ How you rest
✨ How you breathe when you’re stressed
✨ How you speak to yourself
✨ The pauses you give yourself during busy days
✨ The boundaries you set
✨ The moments you allow yourself to switch off

Massage supports you. But your daily habits shape you.

You don’t need hours of self-care every day. Small, consistent moments matter more than occasional big ones.

So…keep your monthly massage.
But also ask yourself:

How am I caring for myself the other 719 hours, so I can get maximum benefit from my treatment?

Happy February everyone 🤍

I’m excited to share that I’m starting my Level 4 Sports Massage training next week!

I’ll be honest, I’m already feeling a little overwhelmed by some of the pre-learning content. Like with any new course, the more I learn, the more I realise how little I actually know! But I’m so excited to get stuck in and start putting my new knowledge and skills into practice so I can support my clients even better.

The studio will be closed from 7th–15th February while I’m training, and will reopen on 16th February.

Theres still one appointment available at 9.30am on Thursday if you’d like to book in before I head off.

See you soon 🤍

Do you ever get that feeling like you have to be “doing” something all the time?

Maybe you feel guilty if you’re not in doing mode, and feel like you “should” be doing something. Perhaps you judge yourself as “lazy”, or “not doing enough”.

Maybe you struggle to be still or it feels uncomfortable to just… stop.

Maybe you feel you have to be seen to be “doing” to feel valuable.

Whatever your thing is, your Deep Tissue or Aromatherapy massage is your permission-slip to pause, to slow down and give your mind and body that well needed break and care. Guilt free!

There’s no expectation.
Nothing for you to do.
No-where for you to go.
No-one for you to be.

You can drop all roles, responsibilities and expectations at the door and just allow your massage to relieve you of your daily burdens, stressors and tension.

Your time-out is awaiting you and is just one click away (booking link is below😉)
