World Mental Health Day 🌍🫂

This year the theme is:

'Access to services - mental health in catastrophes and emergencies'.

Which highlights the importance of people being able to protect their mental health in times of global instability. Here in the UK, we know our public mental health services are under huge strain — but there are incredible organisations and community groups doing amazing work to offer support and guidance.

I’ve put together a short list below of places that can help...

Shout: Text SHOUT to 85258 for free, 24/7 confidential crisis text support

Samaritans: Call 116 123 anytime for free, confidential support from trained volunteers

Mental Health Foundation:

Really interesting to see this topic coming up more often. It’s not exactly new research, but the conversation around creatine supplementation is definitely growing. I’ve used creatine myself for sports performance, rehab, and post-concussion recovery.

What are your thoughts?!

The benefits of creatine supplementation for Older Adults may include:

Muscle & Strength: Creatine, particularly when combined with resistance exercise, can increase lean muscle mass and improve muscle strength, counteracting muscle loss (sarcopenia).

Bone Health: increase bone mineral density and reduce bone breakdown, supporting overall bone health.

Functional Performance: improved muscle strength and function can lead to better performance in day to day activities. As well as reduce the risk of falls.

Cognitive Health: improvements in aspects of memory and cognitive function

My great gran lived with Dementia.
I can remember when I was little I would stay at her house in the school holidays. She would make us cheese on toast and I would spend hours in her garden.
In later years she didn't know who I was, she thought Ian Beale and the cast of Eastenders were her family.

Maybe that's why I work with the patients I do now ☺️

Conversations around dementia may not be easy, but they are incredibly important.

Whether you’re a carer or living with dementia yourself, knowing you’re not alone in what you’re experiencing can make a huge difference.

And if you know someone who cares for a loved one with dementia, giving them opportunities to talk can take some of the weight off their shoulders.
