As the weather continues to be rough, I thought I'd have a look at what it is thought to mean if it is very windy on your wedding day. A strong wind is thought to symbolise change and transformation as you embark on a new chapter in your lives. Remember that the weather is the one thing you can't order in especially - best to have a back-up plan and lots of hairspray.

With some areas of the country having seen the wettest January in over 100 years you could be wondering if it will rain on your wedding day. Luckily a wet wedding day has many positive associations. It is thought to mean good luck, symbolic of cleansing and fertility and washing away past troubles. My tip for a rainy wedding day - don't stress, chuck on some wellies and grab the umbrellas. You can't control the weather so just chill.

Wedding law reform will impact every supplier in the wedding industry. Here are five ways it will change the way that wedding venues operate.
1. More weddings = more business. The law reform is expected to increase the overall number of wedding taking place.
2. Freedom to choose their location. The door will be opened to smaller venues who currently don't have a licence and established venues will be able to offer weddings in more places.
3. More celebrant-led weddings. These are authentic feeling and flexible.
4. Personalised ceremonies = Happier couples.
5. The new laws will celebrate equality, inclusion and freedom of expression.

Sometimes it's the little things that make a big impression. Today I witnessed a really simple, but very dignified and beautiful family burial. No formal words, just the sound of birdsong. No fussy flower arrangements, just a few favourites and the wild snow drops that are just starting to bloom.

You've got the ring, now it's time for some serious planning. At the outset before you get down to guest numbers and canape's it's worth thinking about what style of wedding you'd like. Do you want a straightforward service with a registrar or a personalised ceremony with a professional Celebrant? Visit venues to help you decide what style of wedding best suits you. Would you like an outdoor ceremony or an inside space? Make use of the expertise offered by the venue staff.

In my last post (for now) about wedding law reform I'd like to address the concerns of Registrars. Naturally they are concerned about the legal aspects of marriage and want to ensure that these are all carried out with due diligence and respect. They also point out that they have specific training to help them spot forced and sham marriages. The institutions that train Celebrants are aware of these concerns and will be providing relevant, accredited training programmes for their alumni. Contact me if you'd like any more information.
