A brilliant day delivering Outdoor Emergency First Aid training in Dunston Community Centre to the fantastic team at Space 2 Talk

As a veteran it’s so rewarding and inspiring to work with a group so clearly committed to the people they support. Every member brought energy, focus, and a genuine willingness to learn; all with the shared goal of being better prepared to keep others safe during their walking activities.

From practical scenarios to real-world discussions, the team fully embraced the training, building confidence in handling emergencies in outdoor settings. They all showed the skills, awareness, and mindset to step in when it really matters.

A huge thank you to Zena for getting in touch to ask me to train such an engaged and supportive group. You’re all doing incredible work, and it was a privilege to be part of your journey.

Lovely evening in Ampney Crucis village hall delivering Basic Life Support training 💛

Mums learning alongside their children, neighbours training together, and a real sense of community throughout. We focused on CPR, AED and the recovery position; simple skills that can make all the difference in an emergency.

This is what community first aid is all about: building confidence, looking out for one another, and making sure help is never far away.

Great to deliver a First Aid Refresher session today to a highly capable and engaged team in Atworth 👏

We mixed things up with both indoor and outdoor scenarios, which really brought the training to life 🌿

Our next Regulated Level 3, Outdoor First Aid Course
is on the weekend of 6 & 7 Jun at Scrubditch Care Farm, North Cerney. This 16 hour course encompasses the following:

Outdoor First aid equipment
Choking
Assessment of the situation
Control of bleeding, including Catastrophic
CPR
Recovery Position
Use of a Automated Defibrillator
Prioritising treatment
Head injuries
Environmental factors
Eye injuries
Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
Poisoning
Bandaging
Chest injuries
Moving a casualty
Abdominal injuries
Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
Sprains and strains
Fractures and spinal injuries
Burns and scalds
Heart attacks
Asthma
Diabetes
Epilepsy
Hypothermia
Frostbite
Heat exhaustion
Bites and stings
Minor injuries

This comprehensive two-day course covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way, particularly where professional medical help is not immediately available.

This course fulfils the requirements of the First Aid element of the expedition syllabus and it is suitable for the Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh awards.

There is sufficient content in this course to satisfy the requirements of the HSE in respect of Emergency First Aid at Work.
