JLP Vitality Yoga

JLP Vitality Yoga JLP Vitality Yoga specialize in small group classes and Personal tuition. Iyengar style yoga incorporating sustained asanas (poses).

JLP Vitality Yoga aims to bring a personalised and specifically tailored practice for the individual by only having small group classes and the provision of Private tuition if preferred. The style of Yoga I teach is based on the Iyengar method, which employs the principle of sustained asanas (poses) to build up bodily strength and awareness through correct alignment. I have been teaching small Yog

a classes twice a week for over 10 years, with a student age range from 15 to 80 years old. I have also had the privilege of attending quite a few workshops, over the years, delivered by teachers directly trained by Mr Iyengar or his immediate family. I have been a consistent yoga student since 2000. If you find practising in a group is not for you then private tuition is offered for 1 – 2 people, in your own home, providing you have sufficient room for the yoga mats and freedom of movement. Classes will be tailored to the individuals’ specific needs. Please ensure that you haven’t eaten for at least 1 – 2 hours prior to class commencement and that suitable non-constrictive clothing is worn. All classes are conducted in bare feet and all equipment is provided. (You may use your own mat should you wish)
It is essential that any health problems (including previous injuries/ongoing problems/menstrual cycle etc.) are notified to the teacher prior to the commencement of the class in order to avoid exacerbation of any condition.

YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD!
Karate can be practised at any age and has been shown to be beneficial both mentally and physically. Older people may not be as strong, fast or flexible as someone in their 20’s, but they can still practice karate at their own pace and derive great physical and emotional benefit

Perfect health is not a requirement as, on the physical side, Karate training builds strength, balance, flexibility, endurance and improved cardio performance. The older we get, the more we depend on flexibility to do simple things such as getting up from a chair, climbing a flight of stairs and walking with a straight posture without pain.

And on the mental side, Karate training builds self confidence and self esteem and has been shown to improve cognitive ability

And, most importantly, it’s a lot of fun and a chance to join a great group of people!

In order to let potential new members find out for themselves we are holding a 45 minute introductory class next Tuesday 26th August at 7.30pm at St Modan’s High School.

The class will be very easily paced and preceded by a short demonstration featuring our older members of the club.

Our Over-60's Class meets every Tuesday 7.30pm throughout the year at St Modan’s High School Dance Studio, Springkerse, Stirling.

If a tressler is unavailable use wall support

Key aspects of Trikonasana in Iyengar yoga and how we can get everything with the help of Tressler.
• Foundation:
Establishing a strong base with the feet and legs is crucial. Feet are typically spread wide, with the outer hip of the front leg drawn back and the opposite hip moving forward.
• From both the sides feet are fixed and this is giving strong foundation

• Alignment:
Precise alignment of the spine, legs, and arms is emphasized, ensuring a straight line from the back heel through the middle of the foot.
• Tressler is giving the correct alignment and both the sides are parallel to each other.

• Extension:
The pose requires lengthening the spine, torso, and arms, resisting the effects of gravity.
• Tressler is giving complete length.

• Rotation:
The torso is encouraged to rotate away from the floor, with the shoulder blades moving down and forward to open the chest.
• With the tressler complete rotation is possible.

• Breath:
Maintaining steady, even breaths throughout the pose is important for both physical and mental stability.
• Because of the support no chance of breathlessness.

An excellent description regarding the reason behind straightening the legs in Iyengar Yoga. Well worth the read

In Iyengar yoga, straightening the legs in poses is a key element that enhances energy flow, improves circulation, and promotes overall body awareness. It’s not just about achieving a straight line; it’s about actively engaging the muscles and creating a sense of length and expansion throughout the limb. This focus on alignment and extension helps to refine the poses and deepen the practice.

Here’s a more detailed explanation:
• Creating Lines of Energy:
Straightening limbs, including legs, creates clear and lengthened lines of energy through the body. This channeling of prana (life force) through the nadis (energy channels) helps to remove blockages and allows energy to flow more freely.
• Expansion and Tension Release:
Actively straightening and lengthening the legs in Iyengar yoga facilitates expansion, both physically and energetically. This expansion helps to decompress joints, release unnecessary muscular tension, and open up the body.
• Improving Circulation:
Straight legs, especially in standing poses, support better blood flow and circulation. This improved circulation nourishes the tissues and contributes to a greater sense of vitality.
• Building Stamina:
Poses that require straight, strong legs, such as Ardha Chandrasana, Virbhadrasana 3 encourage energy flow and help build stamina.
• Mindfulness and Self-Awareness:
Iyengar Yoga emphasizes body awareness and control, which can be enhanced through mindful attention to leg alignment. This mindful connection promotes mental clarity, reduces stress, and brings a sense of peace.
