It’s been a day of older children today

First we went and watched the schools Easter performance. They sat beautifully watching all the children and waving to my own children 💕

In the church they enjoyed some Easter crafts using stickers to make cards and colouring in

We had a nice play at the park practising and strengthening our gross motor skills

The children enjoyed using the petals from our flower we had to create an Easter chick pictures.

Did you know that there are 8 main senses that your child develops? Sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell are the most common ones however, there are another 3 'hidden' senses: Balance and movement, body position, and internal awareness. Playing with your child is a great way to help them understand and develop these senses! For more information, take a look at the Sensory Awareness toolkit for Early Years:https://www.eput.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/10564-Early-Years-Sensory-Awareness-Toolkit-v3-ACCESSIBLE.pdf

We had a wonderful morning spent with our friends at Dana’s Childcare.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the Easter egg hunt and received a gorgeous gift from Dana and her tribe. So thankful! 💕

So lovely watching friendships blossom between the children at two different settings.

A day of environmental print- recognising print in day to day life

The children enjoyed a visit to the shops with their shopping list to see if they could recognise and find their items.

The children also were encouraged to look for shape, colour and letters.

We created our own print using stampers and stickers. Stickers are also a great way to promote fine motor skills to peel paper from the back of the stickers.

Thank you to all my families who could attend my Research Project for Real attending our Easter Trail and Easter Bonnet Parade.

We are looking at Environmental Print

Environmental print—the familiar text on signs, logos, and labels (e.g., STOP, Walkers, etc)—is vital for early childhood as it bridges the gap between everyday life and literacy, helping children understand that print carries meaning. This recognition builds confidence, fosters print awareness, encourages early reading skills, and connects to prior knowledge, making it a powerful literacy tool.

This morning we were invited into my middle and youngest child’s school for my son to perform in his IRock band.

The children waited so patiently for the concert to begin and were so relaxed two fell asleep.

It was so lovely to see both my children and the childminding children so happy to see one another they even got to have a quick hug 💕

Today we looked at signs of Spring…

🎨We looked at a vase of flowers discussing colour, size, name of the flowers and parts of the flower. The children were then encouraged to paint what they could see completely by themselves using paint and different sized paintbrushes.

💐We smelt some rose petals and decided whether we liked the smell of them or not. Using the petals the children created their own flower.
