Business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs in Clay Cross claim they are being shut out of the town centre’s eye-catching new destination neighbourhood by rents, fit-out costs and opening hours which appear better suited to big name operators with deep pockets.

🚨 Last-Minute Cake Save! By JD Bespoke Bakes 🚨

"Last night I received a message about a cake disaster and an urgent need for a replacement… for today! 😳

After a few quick messages back and forth, I confirmed what I could pull together—and by 9:30pm I was in the workshop, mixing cake batter and prepping the dreaded black buttercream (fellow bakers, you know the struggle 😅). Cake baked, buttercream made, and I was home by 11pm.

This morning? Straight back to it. Topper designed, cut and made… then back to the workshop to level, fill, cover and decorate the cake. Black buttercream and edible silver sparkle, all done and collected.

Phew. That was a rush. 🖤✨

If I can help last minute, I usually will—though this might be my record for the shortest notice ever! 🤣"
