September is World Alzheimer’s Month, an international campaign to combat stigma and raise awareness, so that everyone knows the signs and symptoms of dementia and how to get support when they need it.

This month and always, we’re raising awareness and understanding of dementia and showing that it will take a society to beat dementia. We’re also introducing our new look and feel for Dementia Friends, but our core mission of raising awareness and changing attitudes to dementia remains the same.

On 19th September, Promedica24 Dorset & Hampshire will be taking part in a Memory Walk with Ferndown Dementia Friendly Town 🧠

📍 Starting point: Cherry Tree Nursery, BH10 7DA

It’s a gentle route, but full of meaning. We’ll be joined by Barchester Care Homes, Colten Care, Bridgewater Care (including their DC & Referral Partner), and many others in the local community.

The walk will visit care homes and the GP surgery before finishing at the lovely town allotment 🌿

Every step helps raise awareness and show support for those living with dementia.

What could be better playing a round of golf on a great golf course at Skipton Golf Club whilst raising funds to help Dementia Forward in their great work to help families across the county.

Dementia Forward’s Charity Golf Day is back for 2025 and promises to be a fantastic day of golf, good food, and great company! Taking place on Thursday 4th September at the beautiful Skipton Golf Club, the event begins with arrival at 9:30am for a 10:30am tee off.

Teams of four can enter for £200, which includes a full round of golf, breakfast on arrival, a delicious two-course lunch, opportunity to enter our raffle, and a goody bag to take home. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy a day on the course.

We are also inviting local businesses to get involved by sponsoring a hole for just £100 - a fantastic way to advertise your business to all participants and show your support for a local cause.

Yesterday I met Erin at the beach hut cafe bar over looking Preston Docks. Erin has set up Blue Flamingo Cafe in Preston with three regular community Hubs as a safe spaces for those living with dementia and their families living with dementia. Initiatives like Erin's are so important as they are an opportunity for families to have some well-needed social time and to find out important information, guidance and support.

Together we will explore ways to support Erin's great work as our live-in care services could offer her guests an alternative to go into residential care when they may need more care and support.
