To get lymph to move effectively through the body, you can use natural, non-invasive methods that encourage lymphatic flow. Since the lymphatic system doesn’t have a heart-like pump, movement relies on your body’s activity and certain techniques.
Ways to Stimulate Lymph Movement:
Exercise
Physical movement activates muscle contractions, which help pump lymph.
Try…
Walking or light jogging
Yoga or stretching
Rebounding (jumping on a mini trampoline)
Swimming
Deep Breathing
The lymphatic system is connected to the diaphragm. Deep belly breathing changes pressure in your chest and helps move lymph toward the heart.
Try…
Inhale deeply for 4 seconds, hold 4 seconds, exhale 4–6 seconds.
Hydration
Lymph is mostly water. Staying well-hydrated keeps it flowing smoothly.
Aim for at least 6–8 glasses of water per day (more if you’re active).
Massage
Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle massage technique that moves lymph through the vessels.
Dry Brushing
Using a natural-bristle brush to gently stroke your skin toward your heart stimulates lymph flow.
Do it before showering for 5–10 minutes.
