Our commitment to clinical excellence and personalised service has made us a trusted name in local eyecare. Located on Cheapside in Cleckheaton since our 2016 relocation and shop refit, our modern practice showcases a wide selection of stylish frames and cutting-edge technology. We’ve invested in advanced diagnostic tools such as OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), and every eye examination includes retinal photography—no puff test required. As an independent optician, we offer lenses from a variety of leading manufacturers, with a preference for Essilor and Hoya, ensuring tailored solutions for every visual need. We fit all types of contact lenses, including Ortho-K (overnight vision correction), and welcome both NHS and private patients of all ages. In 2020, we launched a dedicated Dry Eye Clinic, using IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and LLLT (Low-Level Light Therapy) to provide effective relief for chronic dry eye conditions. Our Story

Openshaw Opticians is a professional local independent practice based in Cleckheaton. It has been serving the people of the Spen valley and beyond for the last 70 years.Investing in the latest equipment such as OCT to provide the most up to date eye exam, gone is the puff test and all exams include retinal photography as standard. 2016 has seen us invest in a new shop fit in our new location on Cheapside Cleckheaton, to show case a great range of frames including Ray ban and Michael Kors. Being independent allows us to use spectacle lenses from different manufactures with the preference for Essilor. We also fit all types of contact lenses and offer hearing tests.
