World Book Day 2026 📚⚽

Today Grimsby Town Foundation delivered 1,500+ free books to our Premier League Primary Stars Priority Partner Schools as part of our ongoing work to promote literacy and a love of reading.

A huge thank you to Mighty Mariner and Grimsby Town first team players Cam Gardner and Maldini Kacurri who helped deliver the books and listened to pupils read short previews from their favourite stories 📖

Schools also received World Book Day vouchers to reward pupils who have made great progress with their reading.

This week we welcomed year 6 students from Macaulay Primary Academy, as part of our Premier League Primary Stars programme, to Blundell Park to celebrate their excellent behaviour and hard work at school! Children learnt all about the history and the origins of the football club and got to test their new knowledge in an engaging quiz!

To finish off the afternoon, students were inspired by our guests, Grimsby Town’s Evan Khouri and Jaze Kabia who shared stories around their journeys in football and how they got to where they are now.

Recently, Grimsby Town’s Cam Gardner paid a special visit to Weelsby Academy’s KS1 multisports afterschool club, where he met young players and shared insights from his journey in professional football. Gardner joined in with drills, offered tips on teamwork and determination, and answered questions about life at Grimsby Town. His visit inspired the children to stay active, work hard, and enjoy developing their skills across a range of sports.
