Congratulations Mr & Mrs T! 💞🎉 What fabulous fun it was, celebrating your love at The Hollow at The Pear Orchard. With a relaxed festival vibe and pink as the colour theme, the beautiful bride totally rocked her pink high-tops! We filled the ceremony with so much and laughter, their smiles were brighter than the sun we nearly didn't have ( never underestimate the power of prayer and buried sausages! ✨️🌞) An absolutely joyous wedding day! I was so happy, I felt I could fly! 😆🦋

Can't tell you how passionate I am about having "that" conversation with our family and loved ones, before our time comes. I know, it's still a taboo subject, the uncomfortable acknowledgement of something that will absolutely come to us ALL. We can run but we can't hide and thinking about what YOU want, is the ultimate way of showing how much you care, for those you leave behind. It takes the pressure off them, trying to second guess how best to honour your memory and do, "what you would want", at time when they will already be overwhelmed. Choose your favourite music, choose a favourite poem or reading, get creative and think "outside the box"! Choose a location that reflects your personality and even have a theme, if that's you! Nothing wrong with singing, playing music or wearing tropical shirts / glam rock / disco / 80's neon! It's your last "party" so make it a celebration of all of your best character traits and qualities. Embrace those unique quirks that have made you the person they have all come to love.

Having a conversation about your thoughts can be a very positive experience, that can strengthen relationships and can actually be life affirming, as a reminder to appreciate those you hold dear in your heart. "none of us are promised a tomorrow" so never put off saying I LOVE YOU, today! 💖

We were delighted to hear the news yesterday that an election has been called for 4th July - we happened to be in Westminster at the time so was pretty exciting 😄 So it really is time to take action on the causes you care about...

Wedding law reform is a cause we are hugely passionate about and it's been far too long waiting for something to happen.

Nine years ago, the Government acknowledged that there was a dire need for reform in the wedding laws of England & Wales, and in 2019 they asked the Law Commission to conduct a thorough review of this law.

In 2022, the Law Commission concluded that the current wedding law is “failing to support marriage” and is “unfair and restrictive”, and published clear and comprehensive recommendations for reform.

And yet, despite all this work, the government has simply ignored these recommendations for the last 2 years.

Most people today will get married at some stage in their lives – so this affects a great many. Weddings are never going to be seen as a ‘priority’, but this could be a golden opportunity for an incoming government to show that they are progressive and in touch with what people want.

We see first hand that couples are frustrated with the lack of choice, discrimination and red tape in our wedding law. But this is about far more than just weddings – in fact, one of the key objectives of the law reform is to reduce the number of sham, forced or unrecognised marriages, improving the security of couples and families.

In addition, this law change would provide marrying couples with convenience, choice of venue, choice of officiant, and the opportunity to express their unique beliefs and values on one of the most important days of their lives.

Please get in touch with your local MPs and appeal to them asap if you want to see this change too 🙏

But all were keen to find out!

Did you know?...

✨️ Getting married at a licensed venue does NOT mean you are compelled to have a registrar-led civil ceremony.

✨️Many couples now choose to complete their legal marriage before the 'big day', allowing them to have a fully personalised and flexible ceremony with an independent celebrant at a venue of their choice, whether licensed or not.

✨️In the Guides for Brides panel of brides and grooms, when asked whether their ceremony options were explained by their venue, ALL said no (registrars were presented as the only option)... and ALL said if they knew, they definitely would have considered a celebrant.

✨️So couples... the choice is yours!

✨️And venues... when showing couples around, please do explain their ceremony options. More choice and personalisation = a happier couple and an even more wonderful wedding day 💖

Thankful Thursday! 💖

I feel so privileged to have been able to be part of this family's difficult journey, saying goodbye to their cherished mum. Together we created a beautiful celebration of her life, filled with so much love and treasured memories. As we gathered again recently, the sun shone, as she did in life, for an intimate and moving, interment of her ashes.
So honoured to have received this heartfelt thank you (it wouldn't all fit into one picture!)
Somedays this doesn't feel like a "job" 🤗💗
