Our desk-bound lives are leading to an epidemic of what is being referred to as bad posture. Back, shoulder or neck aches, pains and what are described as 'issues' are just seen as collateral damage of our work, something we should probably try and rectify if we ever get the time.

But what if I suggested to you that BAD POSTURE IS NOT THE PROBLEM!?

Read our blog about posture and find out the true nature of the problem and the solution https://bit.ly/badpostureblog 🔗

Movement is the key for
Desk based workers.

Research has shown that prolonged sitting is bad for our health and a growing health risk. But did you know that a prolonged static position/ posture is much worse than a 'bad posture' that changes frequently. It is the staying still that is causing us musculoskeletal issues like stiff joints, sore lower back and achy shoulders.
Movement is the key for improved productivity and reduced muscular pain during the working hours and it doesn't have to be any major effort!

•5 top tips for desk based workers in
sitting or standing position:

1. Shake of discomfort from the body every 45min.

2. Do a micro figure of 8 with your hips or 'the hoola hoop' movement x10

3.Shrug your shoulders x10

4.squeeze the buttocks x10

5. Do circular movements with the ankles both ways x10

Osteopathy during pregnancy. People often ask if it's okay to have treatment whilst pregnant, and the answer is YES!

Not only is it safe but it is encouraged. Osteopathy helps to support the body through pregnancy and the constant physical and physiological changes the body goes through means the stresses and strains can be high, and we can help.

The pregnant body really does respond well to Osteopathy due to hormonal changes and increased blood volume too, so treatment may be different to what you had in a pre pregnant state.

Keeping the back, pelvis and body supple is shown to help with labour outcomes too.

If you are pregnant always mention it to your practioner, even in the very early days as its good for us too know so we can best support you.

One big myth about sports therapy and treatment! Yes, sports massages are a great way to prevent or treat soft tissue injuries linked to sporting activities, but anyone who suffers with aches and pains from other activities can still benefit from sports massages too.👍

Inversion ankle sprain = when you go over your ankle and the outside(lateral) ankle ligaments get injured. I think most of us have had this type of MILD injury at least once in our lives. Massage is beneficial in the rehabilitation of an ankle sprain. We can use mobilising techniques, already within few days post injury. This will aid lymph drainage and speed up the healing process. The use of advanced techniques like soft tissue release is useful 4-5 days after injury for realigning fascia and breaking down rapidly forming scar tissue. Later on rehabilitation is all about Mobilising,  stretching and strenghtening the ankle to prevent re- injury. If more severe ankle injury is suspected, its best to have it checked by a doctors for a possible fracture.
