Using deep relaxation and guided imagery techniques, changes in the form of new responses, thoughts, attitudes, behaviours or feelings are possible. Combining Psychotherapy with Hypnotherapy can help you to overcome emotional, psychological and physical difficulties. These include anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, fear and phobias and can also help with pain and weight management, OCD symptoms and many other problems which people may be struggling with. Catastrophising.😱😲😫

When life feels uncertain, changes happen or reassuring familiarity is removed, it is easy for our natural concern to escalate into feelings of panic.
All forms of media can encourage this with scary headlines and hysterical reporting to grab attention and fuel engagement.

Learning self awareness to notice this, and developing and practicing skills to help take control of spiralling feelings, induce calm and enable rational thinking, are key ways to overcome panic and catastrophic thoughts.

Talking therapies including CBT and Hypnotherapy can empower people to better understand their feelings, respond with appropriate tools which will help regain a sense of stability, calm clarity and a good perspective.

Visiting Greece for the first time and surrounded by relics from 2000 years ago made me reflect on the long line of people before us, and the many generations to come, the legacies we leave behind and how we want to be remembered.

When we carry troubles around like baggage and hold onto unwanted habits, it often interferes with the ability to create and nurture relationships, stifles creativity, blinds us to beauty and burdens those around who may be worrying.

If a person decides that they don’t like how they feel and behave, it is the right time to reach out for guidance to confront and sort through the unwanted baggage, building the calm and balance to be the person they want to be and leave a positive, lasting legacy.

We all experience disappointment during our lives.
Events can cause us to be disappointed with ourselves, or with others. It can often cause us to change track, or re-evaluate our goals.
People who hang on to this emotion can develop other negative feelings such as resentment, jealousy, bitterness or depression as a result, and lose sight of the track they were following. Learning to manage disappointments in a calm and constructive way, can enable us to understand, benefit and move on from these common experiences, instead of becoming negatively impacted by them.☹️

This article offers interesting insights into the condition of disappointment and a useful meditation technique to help people cope better.

There are few things more calming than the sea.

Noticing light glistening on the waves, the constant movement, sometimes choppy or violent, other times, smooth and gentle.

The endless horizon and power of tides to bring discarded rubbish and beautiful or interesting shells, stones or driftwood onto the shore…

…take 5 minutes to see what floats to the surface and what level of calm you can reach as you enjoy this video.
Start with 3 deep breaths, breathing in for 5 seconds, hold for 2 seconds and exhale for 7 seconds.
…allow any thoughts to wash across your mind without disturbing the meditation.
Imagine placing any negative thoughts or feelings that come up, onto the waves and watching them being carried far away to the distant horizon…leaving you feeling light, unburdened and refreshed.

Who/what controls us?
Why do we let them/it?

How can we release ourselves from negative ideas, thoughts or actions that may be holding us back, and open the door to new opportunities, feelings of freedom and optimism?

As creatures of habit, we find comfort in repetitive behaviours and thinking styles. Some of these may be benefitting us, others may be harmful.
Whist we may be aware of this, it is often hard to break negative habits, and we may feel that they have control over aspects of us.

Taking the first step towards regaining control involves change. Changing even one small thing, can start the domino effect, knocking down all the barriers that seem to stand between us and the life we desire.

With the realisation that we are only controlled by the people/things that we allow to control us, comes the freedom to adjust.

Talking therapy and Hypnotherapy enables you to explore the best steps forward, by working with an experienced professional, in a safe and relaxed environment.
Together, we examine and gain understanding of how negative influences have become dominant, and do practical work to minimise their hold.
You can then feel free to take control back, by deciding what changes are possible to reduce or eliminate harmful habits, so offering you freedom to introduce new and positive opportunities into your life.

..and relax.....

Here is a lovely soundtrack and guided breathing technique for relaxation. 😌

The 4 2 6 breathing technique

Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 2, exhale slowly with a relaxed mouth and jaw for 6 while letting all the tension in your whole body melt away. Do this for at least 5-10 minutes 1-2 times a day.

this lighthearted Gif actually provides a good way to start thinking about our perspective on the world and how this may be affecting our actions, words and thoughts, and wether we would like to change our perspective, to allow new possibilities to emerge.
We change our minds about all sorts of small things, without any problems, it is a natural part of learning and experiencing life, for example, music, food, people.
Some feel though that their perspective on life is fixed, perhaps due to a particular event or experience, however, Talking therapies offer guidance and a path to enable the successful changes people can visualise to enhance their lives.

Mental Health care is self care.😌🙂

This week is Mental Health Awareness week.
Anxiety is the theme for 2023.

Anxiety is a normal and natural response to feelings of pressure or uncertainty, however sometimes it can spiral, making us feel as though we have no control over anything in our lives.

Talking through the things that are worrying or causing anxiety can help a person to find all those things that they do have control over, and so regain a sense of balance, improved perspective and wellbeing.

This infographic is a good way to check those things that we often spend too much time and effort worrying or stressing about, that are beyond our control, and instead working on all the things within our control.

As Easter fast approaches, we begin to emerge from the hibernation state of Winter and notice the shoots of Spring breaking through, bringing all the promise of growth and optimism for the year ahead.
For some people, personal growth and optimism may be overshadowed by anxiety, fear, depression, and other states of mind that make us feel unable to reach goals and full potential for contentment.

Psychotherapy involves a holistic approach to these problems, utilising a range of talking therapies and Hypnotherapy to safely explore, examine and adjust states of mind that may be holding us back.
