How I work
Our first session will be just us getting to know each other a little better. It will involve:
*Discussing why you want to have therapy and why you want it now.
*What you want to get out of our sessions together.
*Discussing Confidentiality
*Discussing Boundaries

I believe each person is a unique individual and should not be pushed into a one style of therapy fits all box. As an integrative therapist I work collaboratively with my clients to tailor sessions to suit their needs. If you have any questions or want to book a session please message me.

Had a great time parade, marching with . We won't hide, we show up where and when we can. Not enough spoons to go on to the downs, so hung out with community for a little after the parade. That felt great. Community is so important. Moments of joy and feelings of connection are resilience factors that according to the Minority Stress Theory help with better mental health outcomes. And right now considering the government are actively both anti trans and anti disabled we need all of the resilience factors we can get.

In this world that seems to be getting ever smaller stay true to yourself. You are valid. It's hard to hold on when the media is emboldening the hate. You are seen, you are loved, the world needs you. You know who you are and you are wonderful. 🏳️‍⚧️💜🏳️‍⚧️

New book by just arrived. I have only read part of the introduction and I'm sitting here saying "oh my god" and "yes absolutely". I think I'm going to learn a lot from reading this book, and most of that I have a sense will be about myself.

This evening I spoke on a panel for TDoR at for their LGBT network. Having failed to take my own pictures as usual I forgot.

I learnt about the amazing work of creating spaces for trans youth. We spoke about fear and violence but also about the importance of community. The importance of active allyship, of standing up for people when they aren't in the room.

One of the audience questions was who was our trans hero, my answer was my friend and the chair of Avi , who works tirelessly for the bi and trans communities. They are an inspiration to me.

This happens so often in my head in sessions.
Sometimes I externalise those thoughts if I think it's helpful.
It can be quite difficult in some sessions to keep that thought Internal.

Living & Working with Neurodivergence: Mental Health & Wellbeing Conference

WORKSHOP Working with Neurodivergent Students - Tristan Brooks.

The aim of this session is to pass on knowledge from my own lived experience as a neurodivergent counsellor working in a university counselling service for nearly 3 years. During this time, I have adapted and developed my practice based on the needs of neurodivergent students that I see. Many of these clients are at the start of their understanding having just been diagnosed or are just starting to seek a diagnosis. This can be an overwhelming time, especially within a backdrop of living away from established support networks, often in a new city. This session will include: The three A’s: Internalised Ableism, Individual Ableism, & Systemic AbleismThe importance of self-disclosureWorking with task and choice paralysisCamouflaging in a university setting

On this training today. It is so wonderful being on training that has LGBTQ+ perspectives at the forefront. They are so often missed out in safeguarding training and conversations.

It is also great being in a zoom training room with other people doing such phenomenal work in the field.

I'm not a content creator, so I only post occasionally on my social media accounts. Something to say I'm still active when people search for me or follow a link from my website.
My practice is still full and all new clients are offered spaces from my email list on the current rare occasion that they become available.

This picture is a square I created to contribute to the Colchester community quilt. In 2017 I took the lead and with some help from some friends founded Colchester Pride. This year Laura Love at 13 Stitches took on the wonderful task of facilitating and putting together a community quilt that will be unveiled at this year's Colchester Pride. Whilst I no longer have any involvement in the Pride and haven't in quite some time, I have watched it grow from afar knowing that it started from a dream, hard work from a dedicated few and a £500 budget. It seemed a way to complete my circle with it by contributing to the quilt so I made this square.

Thank you Laura and thank you to every volunteer that has kept Colchester Pride going.

Yesterday I was on the opening panel for Pink Therapy's conference 'Unity in Diversity ' giving my experiences as an Autistic therapist. I didn't take any other pictures of the day...oops. Its always great being around other therapists, being around other openly ND therapists was wonderful.
I spent part of one workshop laying on the floor.

You're not wasting a day by resting, you're enabling yourself to feel better tomorrow.

Now this may not always be true, for my fellow chronic illness peeps, my fellow spoonies, you may not feel better tomorrow by resting today, sometimes resting today means you don't feel worse tomorrow and that makes it the right choice too.

Rest is not a waste of time.
As the say rest is resistance , against a system that assigns worth and value on what you are able to produce.
Resting says nah, my time is precious, I have value regardless of what I produce for capitalism and my time is worth being spent on me.

Take some time for yourself.
Take time to rest.
You are worth it.
You have value.
