Clydebank Men's Shed

Clydebank Men's Shed Men's Shed Clydebank opens 10am every Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat until afternoon. Pop in for a chat 👍🏻

The Story So Far.... It was agreed to lease 'The Shed' [In the grounds of Dalmuir Community Centre], from West Dunbartonshire Council from the 1st March 2016 and Clydebank Shedders attended their first Committee Meeting on the 20th April where it was agreed that our Shed, initially, would open from every Wednesday afternoon. Previously the hut had been used for many years as a store by Clydebank 6

th Troop Scout Adventurers and there was a lot of discarded miscellaneous items to get rid of - including kayaks and skis! Men's Shed members prioritised the upgrading work needed to make it a place where Shedders can now choose to either, work, relax, make and repair things, pursue hobbies and pastimes, get practical help with projects, share skills and make new friends, have a cuppa, a chat, a laugh and get out of the house for a while. This 1600 sq ft Shed includes a stand up loft area, two main rooms plus a kitchen area and a separate toilet. One large room is a social area, to sit back and read, chill out, and put the world to rights. The other is a workshop with machine and power tools and work benches. Something a little bit differant made by one of our members. it was part of the wood donation from coop funeral care in Govan, one of our members has made fantastic use of a lid and made a coffee table with some nice metal hairpin legs and folden the bottom over to make the other leg. it would make a great table for halloween 🧛🏼‍♂️

If anyone is interested in having this please feel free to pop into Clydebank Men's Shed to speak about a donation 👍🏻

Clydebank Men’s Shed BOOSTED BY £5,300 OF FUNDING

West Dunbartonshire based charity Clydebank Men’s Shed have secured a grant totalling £5,300 from Bank of Scotland Foundation’s funding programme, Reach, which is being used as a contribution towards their future building and maintenance costs.

Founded in 2015 Clydebank Men’s Shed promotes positive mental health in men, combats exclusion and loneliness, and encourages members into learning new skills while helping other in the community.

With the cost-of-living crisis impacting mental health, as well as income, the funding will mean that the charity can continue to deliver a range of community services, overseen by their volunteer management committee, so that members have a better quality of life through increased and continued interaction with others.

Joe Gherardi, Chair of Clydebank Men’s Shed, said, “We are delighted to receive this grant from Bank of Scotland Foundation’s Reach Programme. Knowing we will be able to retain and repair our premises is a huge relief. The work our members do in the community vital in ensuring that this often overlooked group get the help they need.

Donald MacKechnie, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and Insurance & Wealth Transformation and Strategy Director, Lloyds Banking Group said, “We are delighted to award Clydebank Men’s Shed with £5,300 of funding. The cost-of-living crisis means many charities are struggling with increasing expenditure, at a time when the demand for their services is as great as ever. Our grant awards will help charities through the challenging months ahead.”

Notes to Editors:
Clydebank Men’s Shed was founded in 2015 and has helped many community organisations and individuals in the West Dunbartonshire area.

Bank of Scotland Foundation is an independent charity working with charities across Scotland supporting people and their local communities.

The Foundation received almost £4m in February 2022 from Lloyds Banking Group as part of the Group's commitment to Helping Scotland Prosper. The Foundation will donate these funds to charities across Scotland through Grants Programmes and a Matched Giving Programme for Lloyds Banking Group employees in Scotland.

Since November 2010, Bank of Scotland Foundation has provided almost £28m to nearly 2,400 charities making positive change across Scotland, enabling over 1,000,000 people to benefit from a variety of much needed local services and personal support.
