“It’s not just my child!!
When Belle (my 9-year-old daughter) asked me to take her to the opening week of Sephora London, I couldn’t quite understand why my 9-year-old was so into skincare! I thought maybe she was interested in my job 😁 But no, it seems skincare was a hot topic in playground 🤦🏻♀️
Seeing these skincare brands showcase their products in bright, fun packaging, I could clearly see who they were targeting.
But what I find so hard to wrap my head around is that I’m currently working with adults to achieve healthy skin that functions like a child’s skin!! (Children don’t apply creams to their skin, as it regulates itself.)
Dr. Obirgi, a Dermatologist at the top of his game and a brand I work with and respect, has always emphasised in his lectures how healthy a child’s skin is. By working on improving how our own skin functions and getting it to self-regulate like a child’s skin, we can achieve healthy, glowing skin.
Young children do not need to apply all these lotions and potions. Doing so would risk deregulating the function of the skin or even damaging our natural skin barrier.
And, just to clarify, bum bum cream is not needed for a 9-year-old! Yet, Belle has a few 🤦🏻♀️ Apparently, firming bum cream is another must-have product for a 9-year-old!
It’s a crazy world!! The article from The Guardian below prompted this post.”
