How is your new year going so far?
Although it’s a busy time of year for me 🤯 I’m trying to pace myself a little more than usual, consciously adding some rest into each day and trying not to feel as though I have to work and push and keep “doing” something all the time!
Rest can be hard- we’re taught from
an early age to be productive and on the go. 😩
Sometimes we have to slow down and just ‘be’- no phones, no to do list, no pressure! And that helps us come out of constant fight or flight mode.
Rest doesn’t have to mean sleep - rest might be mindful moments you carve into your day:
💜 Step away from your desk or work for five minutes every so often, micro breaks help decrease stress ⏰
💜 Be mindful with your rest: no scrolling as this stimulates the brain 📱❌
💜 Focus on your breath - observe how you feel 🧘🏼♀️
💜 Have a stretch or move gently to let go of tension 🙆♀️
💜 Notice what you can see, smell, touch, hear and taste 👂
💜 Pop outside and soak in some fresh air and daylight ☀️🌳
💜 If you can, lie down and put your feet up! 👣
If you need a little help to relax, my Rest and Relax yoga class takes place once a month in Coalville - it’s a whole hour and 15 minutes of guided deep rest, and it leaves you feeling calm and centred 🥰 Next class Sunday 1st Feb 7pm.
