👂🏻 Lets Talk About Tinnitus 👂🏻
I have seen quite a few patients recently who have been suffering with tinnitus. Sometimes this is caused by a buildup of earwax in the outer ear canal that alters the transmission of sound getting through to the inner ear.
However, sometimes this can be related to an issue with blood pressure.
Some medication for high blood pressure (anti hypertensives) can alter the blood flow leading to the cochlear and therefore trigger tinnitus symptoms.
High blood pressure can also present tinnitus symptoms, so it is important to have a home blood pressure monitor and know what qualifies as high or low readings.
If you find that you are getting high readings whilst at home and relaxed, it is worth completing a home blood pressure diary and taking this to your GP.
I have attached a link below with lots of useful information on how to complete a home blood pressure diary .
If you are taking antihypertensive medication and suffering from tinnitus, it is worth checking the patient information leaflet included in the medication to check if tinnitus is a side-effect .
I hope this information proves useful .
