Lots of glue going into the cello. The construction at the top block is very unusual - ribs inserted and wedged into grooves in the block. One was totally loose, and I found the wedge had suffered with woodworm, so I replaced it. I'll treat everywhere inside for woodworm before reassembly.

Just starting the restoration of this cello.

Apparently it's been a decorative wall hanger for years, but it'll be coming back to life soon! Nice to find good quality old repairs inside, rather than junk that needs re doing! There'll be updates as I go along.

Double bass surgery.

This one wanted a new bridge (coloured to match the fingerboard and tailpiece) and a horrible electric buzzing noise sorting. Seymour Duncan pickups on a Steve whitehouse mount should be simple, but whoever fitted them made a real hack of the wiring. All sorted properly now, with an earth plate added to the tailpiece to earth the strings.

Got it back together only to find the strings buzzed when played open, so a new slightly higher nut needed making and fitting to sort it.

Partial re fret on this nice old Artisan guitar. Forgot to take "finished" pics, but it was collected by a very happy customer yesterday!

Huge amount of fret wear on this Lindo acoustic. Soon found out why - the frets are incredibly soft! All dressed out and set up with a super low action as requested 😎

Retrofitting through body string ferrules to a bass this afternoon. Slightly daunting as it's in such a thick high gloss finish, but they've gone in perfectly with no splintering of the lacquer!

Only expected to be doing a setup on this bitsa Tele. Plugged it in and it buzzed WHEN I touched the strings.
Think the eagle eyed amongst you will spot the issue!

A rock n roll bass only came in for a sensible height bridge, (old one was ridiculously low- unplayable with the nylon strings!) but I noticed the fingerboard was warped, (you should get an idea of how bad by the pile of shavings!) so sorted that, along with a couple of other little details. Plays nicely now!

8 string ukulele in for a bridge repair after it had snapped in half under the string tension. Appeared to have been glued to the lacquer, rather than to the actual front.
Back together and playing nicely again now!

Making a violin fingerboard this afternoon. They come supplied as a very rough blank. The pile of shavings gives an idea of how far that is away from the correct shape! (At this stage, there's still more to take off the top, and I've not started on the underside yet)

Pic 2 is of what's being replaced. Something very weird has happened to it!

More violins that have been in storage for years. Both having new pegs, bridges, modern tailpieces and strings. One has also had a new endpin and the other will be getting a fingerboard.
Hopefully I'll remember to take pics when they're done!
