✅ Fact: You are always in control and aware during hypnosis. It's a deeply relaxed and focused state, not mind control. Hypnosis can not make
you do anything that goes against your ethics or against your will.

Myth #2: Hypnosis is just sleep.
✅ Fact: You’re not asleep—you’re in a trance-like state of focused awareness, similar to being deeply absorbed in a book or movie.

Myth #3: Only certain people can be hypnotized.
✅ Fact: Almost everyone can experience hypnosis if they’re open and willing to. It’s a natural state your mind already enters daily.

Myth #4: Hypnotherapy is like stage hypnosis.
✅ Fact: Hypnotherapy is a clinical, therapeutic practice—very different from entertainment-focused stage hypnosis.

Breathing techniques and anxiety pointers to help you when you are struggling with feelings of overwhelm, stress and anxiety. 💖 I use these with my clients and they can be very beneficial especially at the start of the moment of anxiety 🥰

Square breathing- (box breathing)

Step 1: Breathe in counting to four slowly. Feel the air enter your lungs.
Step 2: hold your breath for 4 seconds. Try to avoid inhaling or exhaling for 4 seconds.
Step 3: slowly exhale through your mouth for 4 seconds
Step 4: repeat steps 1 and 3 until you feel re-centred

Finger breathing:

Finger breathing also know as five finger breathing is a mindfulness exercise that uses the physical act of tracing your fingers to calm and centre yourself. It’s a simple technique that can be used anywhere, anytime to help manage stress and promote relaxation.

1. Hold out your hand. Extend one hand with fingers spread apart
2. Trace with the other hand. Use the index finger of your other hand to trace the outline of your hand.
3. Breathe with the tracing. As you trace up a finger, breathe in. As you trace down, breathe out.
4. Repeat. Continue tracing all your fingers, inhaling as you move up and exhaling as you move down.
5. Optional. Repeat the exercise as needed, or switch hands and repeat.

Grounding technique:
The 5 senses grounding technique is a mindfulness exercise that helps you become more present by focusing on your sense of sight, sound, touch, smell or taste. It’s a tool to manage anxiety, stress and overwhelming emotions by anchoring your focus to the present moment.

1. 5 things you can see. Look around and notice five things you can see.
2. 4 things you can touch. Pay attention to four things you can feel physically, like the texture of your clothes or the chair you’re sitting on.
3. 3 things you can hear. Identify three sounds you can hear, such as distant traffic or the hum of your computer.
4. 2 things you can smell. Notice two things you can smell perhaps the scent of your coffee or the fresh air.
5. 1 thing you can taste: acknowledge one thing you can taste, like the taste of the drink you have just had.

Even after 18 months this client is still receiving the benefits of hypnotherapy sessions 🥰

Phobia sessions helps to move the phobia to the intellectual (positive) part of the brain where you have complete control over it and you feel able to manage and deal with it better. As well as reducing your stress bucket 🪣 where the fuel for your phobia is held and made worse by.

Focusing on the positives as well as improving your sleeping patterns which further helps to empty your stress bucket 🪣. This can also reduce the amount of stress that fills your bucket and make you more resilient. Focusing on how you would like manage the phobia now you have complete control over it and it is now a narrative memory 🙂

Feeling anxious, stressed with day to day life, overwhelmed?

Hypnotherapy with Emma Jane can help you to be kind to your mind, get back on track and work towards getting you back! 🥰

Hypnotherapy helps with emptying your stress bucket 🪣 as well as reducing the amount of stress that fills your bucket and making you more resilient. Focusing on the positives in life, we call these the 3 p’s. These consist of positive interactions, positive thoughts and positive actions which makes us feel good and we get feel good chemicals from.

We also focus on our goals and the present and future, how we can work towards feeling better rather than focusing on the past which we cannot change. We focus on the solutions rather than the problems as focusing on the problems often ends up making you feel worse. Hypnotherapy can also help with your sleeping patterns and helping you to get more efficient sleep which further empties your stress bucket 🪣

Hypnotherapy is beneficial for those that would like therapy without having to talk about the past and delve into this and also your current problems. We do not focus on this as we cannot change the past it has happened but we can focus on now and the future and works towards your goals! It is solution focused hypnotherapy, which means we focus on the solutions rather than the problems. Focusing on the problems often ends up making you feel worse as you are stuck in the negative part of the brain. Whereas we need to be in the positive part of the brain to make positives changes 🧠
