Are you able to regulate yourself ? Do you know what tools help you when you feel those alarm bells ringing in your mind? Are you able to catch the simmer before it comes to a boil?
If you answered no to any of those, how do you expect to be able to help the little people in your life learn how to regulate and navigate their emotions? And to do that without shame or guilt.
I grew up in a generation where these subjects weren’t only not spoken about, I genuinely don’t think the parents of those times knew it was possible to choose a different way. That they were capable of regulation & in turn co regulation with their children.
When we work with our emotions, opposed to suppressing them to the point they explode out of us, we can lead ourselves to a place of understanding, of compassion & pass this onto those little eyes that are continuously watching and learning from us.
The truth is, children learn through co-regulation. They take their cues from us. When we can pause, breathe, and soften, we teach them, without words, that it’s safe to feel. That they don’t need to be afraid of their emotions. That feelings don’t need to be hidden, shamed, or shut down.
This is what my work with Piscean Dream is all about! Creating safe spaces for connection, presence, and healing. In learning to hold ourselves with compassion, we model a different way for the next generation, one where love, emotional intelligence, and self-trust are at the centre.
