NHS Travel Vaccinations and Advise

From Friday 1 April 2022, the way you access travel vaccinations will change. Vaccinations previously delivered at GP practices will be the responsibility of NHS Lanarkshire.

These vaccines are:
- Hepatitis A
- Typhoid
- Hepatitis A and typhoid combined
- Cholera
- Revaxis (polio / diphtheria / tetanus)

The consultation and vaccination will continue to be FREE of charge for people who live in Lanarkshire or who are registered with a Lanarkshire GP practice.

For information on the travel vaccination service in other health boards, visit www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk

If you need any of the above vaccines for travel, you can now contact participating community pharmacies directly and staff will advise you of the process.

Please make sure you know the vaccination requirements of the country you are travelling to, and allow for sufficient time to be vaccinated.

You can check this at www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk before arranging your appointment at a pharmacy. Please note, this service does not include the covid-19 vaccine.

Some travellers may need vaccines and anti-malarials which are not provided free of charge through this NHS service. Pharmacies may provide this additional service, however there will be a charge for it.

Update on flu jags... We have just had word that there has been a delay in the supply chain and will be nearer the middle of November before we know more. Thank you for your patience.

We have a limited number of flu vaccinations available, the cost is £15 as Lanarkshire pharmacies have not been selected to provide NHS vaccinations. Please phone the pharmacy to arrange an appointment with our pharmacist

Remember that September weekend is coming up and we will be CLOSED Monday 28th. With this and the recent outbreaks and local lockdowns affecting supplier deliveries, please make sure you order your prescription in plenty of time. Normal turnaround is 72 hours from ordering and we can add another 48 hours at least to make sure stock comes in.
Also please note that the pharmacy are no longer able to order on your behalf from Waverley or Church St practices. Patients must contact them directly for all prescriptions including repeats.
Please take care, and as always, dispose of your masks safely!

Good morning! Remember that it's Glasgow fair Monday next week and we will be CLOSED Monday 20th July . If you're usually due to pick up on a Monday please come in tomorrow 9-6 or Saturday 9-1. Prescriptions will most likely run a day or 2 behind next week if doctors are also closed so please be patient. Thank you.

Please remember that face coverings are mandatory indoors in Scotland now. Please make sure you cover up before entering the pharmacy.
Also remember that people are generally not in a pharmacy because they're fit and well, we need to keep the risk to a minimum of passing germs on to our most vulnerable patients via their family/carers.
We still have masks for sale, £2.50 for 10, boxes of 50 for £12.50.
Please dispose of used masks, gloves etc responsibly! 😁
