A very well done to Ellie-Mae for completing the Race for Life Mud Run in aid of Cancer Research yesterday 👏.This is a cause that is very close to our hearts within the practice. Thank you to friends and patients who generously sponsored Ellie-Mae for this event. Every penny is appreciated.

So what is an OCT scan......

Optical Coherence Tomography uses light waves to illuminate & scan your retina, giving the optometrist a detailed 3D image of your retina at a near cellular resolution.

OCT scanning is a powerful tool helping us to monitor eye health, diagnose eye diseases & monitor the progression of existing eye diseases.

It can help us to diagnose high blood pressure, MS, vascular diseases & diabetes amongst others.

Even if you don't have a high risk of eye disease, OCT exams are still a great way to protect your eye health, it creates a baseline reading for reference so that we can detect the smallest changes to your eyes over time.

One of our patients once asked if they needed to remove their clothes for the scan!!! I'm pleased to say that no you don't! 🤣.

The scan takes about 10 mins & is non invasive & painless.
