We started off our Christmas lunch by unwrapping the lovely gifts generously provided by shoppers at the BBB shop. Thank you so much to St Helena Shops for including us in their Wish Tree project. The joy on everyone’s faces as they opened their presents was very special🥰🥳🤗. After enjoying a glass or three of wine, we all tucked into a delicious Christmas lunch.

What a wonderful afternoon we had at our Christmas Party, made even more memorable by the visit from St Helena Shops, who brought gifts generously bought by the local community through the BBB shop. Thank you to Kirsty, Wendy, Serena, Tina, and Daniela for their efforts and kindness. They bravely joined in on the festivities, making the afternoon special for us. In addition to passing the parcel (with forfeits), we sang, danced, and took part in an interactive Christmas quiz. There were some great prizes to be won in the raffle. We ended the afternoon with a delicious, festive tea 😋😋. A big thank you to Chris and Sue for organising and hosting the party, which truly helped everyone get into the festive spirit. Happy Christmas to everyone!!!😊🎄🎅🤶

Many thanks to St Helena Shops for switching on our Christmas Lights this year. Before the switch-on, they gave us a lovely talk about the fantastic work that they do. They then spent time meeting and chatting to everyone whilst enjoying some delicious mince pies. When it got darker, we all went out and began the countdown. If ever you are in the area, please pop down and have a look!!😊😊🎄🌟🎅

Our "Get Ready for Christmas" afternoon was a fantastic success. We opened up the event to the local community, and it was lovely to see so many people attend. Thanks to Helen for all her help in making this happen. Chris and Sue kept us entertained with a delightful cryptic Christmas quiz, while Sue's beautiful accordion playing filled the air as we sang along to popular carols. Chris also shared a captivating rendition of the Christmas story, enhanced by impressive visual posters that added a sensory element. We created some beautiful Christmas cards with Sue's assistance. We wrapped up the afternoon with a delicious Christmas tea, and it was wonderful to see so many members of the local community join us. A huge thank you goes to Age Well East for their efforts in organising this event. We eagerly anticipate hosting more gatherings to connect with our local community, so stay tuned for our next event!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Remembrance Sunday observance. 🌺🌺 The pupils from Gosbecks Primary School joined us in making lots of poppies, which we placed in our Remembrance Day Memorial Garden. Many thanks to the Stanway Evangelical Church, who visited us this morning, where we had meaningful discussions, shared memories, and took a moment to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Their contributions will always be remembered.

We want to take a moment to express our thanks to our lovely pet therapy dog Coco, and her equally wonderful owner, Andrew, from Essex Therapy Dogs, who have been visiting us for over two years now.🙂🤗🥰🐕‍🦺🐕‍🦺 Coco is an incredibly affectionate dog who brings joy to everyone she visits. Everyone, including the staff, gets so excited when she visits. Dog lovers know just how much joy these furry companions bring into our lives. Their presence has a unique way of easing our stress and putting a massive smile on our faces that stretches from ear to ear 😁🥰 She has a knack for knowing exactly who will offer her the tastiest treats, and we all love spoiling her. Thank you, Andrew, for the effort you put into bringing Coco to us for all these years and for brightening up our days. It means a lot to us 😊🤗
We look forward to many more visits from both of you in the years to come. 🐕‍🦺🐕‍🦺🥰🤗🙂

What a wonderful morning we had at the St Helena BBB cafe!🙂 This time, we were delighted to share the experience with family members, which made it even more memorable. Once again a huge thank you to Kirsty and Wendy from St Helena Shops for their warm hospitality. They always make us feel so at home😊🤗. The cakes were, as usual, delicious, and we were especially excited to try their incredibly tasty cheese scones during this visit ☕🍰🧁🫖. Once we returned home, everyone spoke about how lovely, kind, welcoming and friendly the cafe is, and they couldn't stop sharing their experience with others. Thank you for making our morning so special and unforgettable! Means a lot to us!🤗🤗🥰

We were delighted to welcome 'Jayne' and her owner, Jane, from Essex Therapy Dogs. Alongside the lovely 'Coco' and her owner, Andrew, we now enjoy visits from two therapy dogs from the same wonderful organisation🐕🐕‍🦺🤗🙂. Jayne, an adorable Jack Russell, loves meeting new people and is always eager for cuddles, not to mention any biscuits that come her way!!! A big thank you to Jane for taking the time to spend with us.

Our afternoon of sensory, memory and musical quizzes was a stimulating experience, thanks to Chris and Sue, who kept us engaged with their interactive challenges.🧐🤓. One of the quizzes required us to think creatively, as the answers were all letters of the alphabet; for instance, 'A body of water' corresponded to 'C.' We also enjoyed sensory games, such as 'Guess the object by feel only,' where items were hidden in a sock, and identifying food smells while our eyes were closed. The memory game added to the fun, making the entire afternoon a 'memorable' one.... no pun intended..😁

We recently enjoyed a delightful visit to St Helena's BBB shop on Pear Tree Road. This is a MUST-visit place for anyone who hasn't been there yet. The shop has a genuine and welcoming community feel, making it a pleasure to visit. While indulging in the delicious, freshly baked cakes, we also had the opportunity to reconnect with some people we knew and spent time shopping. Many thanks to Kirsty, Wendy, Kim and the rest of the team from St Helena for their kindness and support. They made us all feel so welcome!!

This was our third harvest from the vegetable patch, and while the yield wasn't as abundant as in previous weeks, we still gathered a healthy amount. The runner beans, raspberries, and spring onions produced the most, providing us with a delightful bounty!!! However, we may have let the rhubarb grow a bit too long, as can be seen by the oversized leaves! Wishing all our followers a Happy Harvest season.😀👍🥒🍆🥕🫐🥬🧅

It was wonderful to hear everyone share their personal memories during our afternoon of reminiscing. Many recalled their mothers using a flat iron, while others reminisced about the sound of the football rattle clacker used by the home guard as a warning signal. Alongside the enjoyment of the artefacts, the nostalgia these shared stories evoked made the afternoon even more special.😊😊
