Anxiety doesn’t always look like panic attacks or visible distress.
Sometimes, it hides in ways people don’t notice — even the person experiencing it. 💭
Here are a few less obvious ways anxiety can show up:
• Overthinking everything — replaying conversations or worrying about things that haven’t happened
• Being “busy” all the time — using constant activity to avoid sitting with thoughts
• Irritability or snapping over small things
• Trouble sleeping — either struggling to fall asleep or waking up feeling restless
• Physical symptoms — headaches, muscle tension, upset stomach, fatigue
• People-pleasing — finding it hard to say no or fearing letting others down
• Perfectionism — feeling like nothing you do is ever “good enough”
• Avoidance — putting off tasks, situations, or conversations that feel overwhelming
Anxiety isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s quiet, constant, and easy to dismiss.
If this feels familiar, you don’t have to face it on your own 💙
At Castle Counselling, we offer a safe, supportive space to explore what you’re going through and find ways to cope that work for you.

This time of year can feel especially full. With GCSE season approaching, the pressure often builds not just in school, but at home and at work too.
You might be juggling deadlines, daily responsibilities, and supporting a young person through exams while trying to hold everything together yourself.
You might notice your mind racing at night, feeling stretched between work and family, having no real time to switch off, or carrying a lot quietly.
For young people, the pressure can show up as exam worries, self-doubt, or feeling overwhelmed about what’s ahead.
Different experiences, but often the same feeling underneath. It can feel like a lot to carry.
It makes sense if you’re feeling this way.
At Castle Counselling, we offer a safe space to pause, talk things through, and find a way forward that feels manageable.
You don’t have to wait until things feel too much.
If you’ve been thinking about reaching out, you’re welcome to message us for a chat.

Is your child or teenager struggling with anxiety — but you’re not sure how to help? 🤔
Anxiety in children and teens can show up in many ways, and it’s not always easy to spot. You might notice:
• Constant worrying or overthinking (generalised anxiety)
• Avoiding social situations (social anxiety)
• Difficulty being apart from you (separation anxiety)
• School refusal or frequent worries about school
• Panic attacks, fears, or specific phobias
At Castle Counselling, we specialise in anxiety counselling for children and teenagers, helping them understand their feelings and build confidence in a safe, supportive environment.
We also support parents; because supporting a child with anxiety can feel overwhelming. You don’t have to navigate it alone. We can help you understand what your child is experiencing and offer practical ways to support them at home.
Early support can make a lasting difference. 💛

Loneliness doesn’t always mean being physically alone.
You can be surrounded by people at school, at work, or even at home and still feel deeply lonely. Some children and teenagers experience this too — especially if they’re struggling with friendships, feeling misunderstood, or finding school difficult.
At times, this can even show up as school avoidance or wanting to stay home, not because a child is lazy or difficult, but because they feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to cope.
When loneliness continues, it can affect mental health, leading to sadness, anxiety, low confidence, or feeling like no one understands.
Talking in a safe, supportive space can help children, teens, and adults make sense of these feelings and begin to reconnect.
💚 At Castle Counselling Service Ltd we support children, teens, parents, couples, and adults across Earls Colne, Halstead, Colchester and surrounding areas.
📩 If loneliness or school-related worries are affecting your child or family, support is available.

Anxiety doesn’t always disappear when we notice it.
But small, steady steps can help us feel more grounded again.
If things feel overwhelming, try starting with something simple today:
🌿 Take 3 slow breaths and let your shoulders drop.
🌿 Step outside for a few minutes of fresh air.
🌿 Write down one thing that’s been on your mind.
🌿 Remind yourself: you don’t have to handle everything at once.
Tiny moments of care for yourself can make a bigger difference than you might expect.
And if you feel ready to talk, support is there.
Call or visit our website to arrange a free no obligation 10-minute telephone consultation.

Sometimes anxiety isn’t loud. It’s quiet, persistent, and easy to miss.
A few days ago we shared hidden signs like perfectionism, tiredness, or procrastination. Today, take a moment to reflect:
🤍 When was the last time you really noticed how you were feeling?
Being present with yourself, even for a few minutes, is often the first step toward relief.
If talking it through would help, you can book a free 10-minute discovery call. Sharing how you feel can make a real difference.

Did you know anxiety can be hidden in plain sight?
It’s not always obvious — and it doesn’t always look like panic.
Sometimes anxiety is quiet, internal, and easy to miss.
It can hide under:
✅ High-functioning
✅ Perfectionism
✅ Procrastination
✅ People-pleasing
✅ “I’m just tired”
Some lesser-known signs of anxiety can include:
• Constant fatigue — feeling bone-tired even after a full night’s sleep
• A strong need for things to be “just right”
• Avoiding tasks because of fear of getting it wrong
• Unexplained muscle tension, headaches, or stomach issues
Let’s stop equating “functioning” with “fine.”
The friend who looks like they have it all together may be carrying a lot internally. And if you recognise yourself in this post, it might be a gentle sign to pause, take a breath, and consider getting some support.
The invisible side of mental health matters too. 🤍

💬 What’s one way anxiety shows up for you that others might not notice?
Every journey starts with one small step — and you don’t have to take it alone. Call or visit our website to arrange a free no obligation 10-minute telephone consultation.
